Custom game - major imbalance in draft class quality
tl;dr - if you start a custom game I'd strongly recommend simming ~25 years before you dive into the game.
So I started a custom game (starting in the 21-22 season) with NHL+AHL+CHL leagues and fictional players. No other settings were touched. It is currently 2034. Take a look at the number of 5* players that came out of the following draft classes: 21-22: 16 (Age 29-30) 22-23: 29 23-24: 53 24-25: 27 25-26: 3 26-27: 5 27-28: 2 (Age 23-24) Coincidentally, 24-25 was the last draft class that featured players who were generated at the start of the game. Moreover, most of the players generated at the beginning of the game are past their peak age, yet they still dominate the league's elite players. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I personally believe the 25-26 and later drafts are working as intended. Having 100+ 5* players in the league seems absurd. So for whatever reason the young players generated at the start of the game are way too good. You can sim far into the future to clear the league of these players, but it would be nice if this got looked at. Last edited by greenOak; 11-08-2021 at 03:23 AM. |

Very interesting and nice work.
I think I mentioned somewhere else in the forum that in my custom game I was drafting 3-ability/5-potential players up to the 5th round or so, which gave me 4-5 players I could immediately stick on my 2nd/3rd line as 18yos. I'm only at 2025 so I expect this will be where I am in ten seasons. I was wondering if I had mismatched the number of junior teams to major teams, but from what you're saying I guess it's the initial pool of generated players. Interesting... I may need to edit down some of their potentials... |
