Minor League Rosters

Does the makeup of minor league rosters matter. I've noticed that my AAA rosters (I have 3 AAA teams) are all pitcher heave and are missing backup players or even no players at a position. For example 1 catcher and no2B. All rosters are full. (25+ players). I keep having the AI set up my entire minor leagues but it does not help. I have rosters set to fill top to bottom by Potential. Will changing either of those settings help. Or since the games are all simmed anyways does it even matter?

Best solution IMHO is to enable "ghost players". With this on I take on all promotions, demotions but let the AI do lineups and pitching staffs using the "play the guys with potential first" option (or whatever it's called).

With this setup dealing with the minors myself becomes much easier. I only have to deal with players I've drafted or brought in. On the first of each month I go through my minors looking for guys to promote, demote (if I think it's my fault I moved them up too quickly), or cut. I don't have to deal with "career minor leaguers" filling in for those guys when injured etc. I also never have to "fill minors with fictional players" because there aren't enough to go around.

And with ghost players on the answer to your question, "Does the makeup of minor league rosters matter?" is no. Ghost players fill in whatever positions you need that day with a league average replacement player, the infamous "Joe Unkown(s)". No stats are kept for poor old Joe. He simply ceases to exist after the game

Of course it matters. If you have players playing out of position, it will affect their development and their morale. If the AI is setting up your teams and there are still positions that aren't filled, that means you either don't have enough players in your minor leagues or no players for that position who are capable at that level. Sign some free agents to minor league deals to fill those voids.
