Turning off the draft in historical leagues

What boxes do I check or uncheck to both turn off the draft in historical leagues but still get historical (not fake) rookies to show up as free agents?

Go to League Settings > Historical. You'll want to have the first checkbox on the left - Use real historical transactions - unchecked. Further down, under HISTORICAL ROOKIES SETTINGS, make sure Automatically import historical rookies is checked. Then, on the League Settings > Rules panel, right side, make sure Amateur Draft is not enabled (you can only edit this during the preseason).

thehef; Thanks for replying to this. i was going to earlier this morning, but home crisis sort of delayed things. (more or less resolved now) i was under the impression without the draft the players just ended up on their historical teams? but it's been a while since i've worked without a draft. Again, thanks for the refresher/clarification ....

Can this be done without automatic expansion? What I want to do is kind of weird. I want to have 2-3 league promotion/regulation system. I find that the draft disrupts that because I haven't figured out how to have multiple leagues share in the same draft pool. Usually just the "Major league" gets draft pool. That's why I would prefer for rookies to be free agents.

My idea is a set of leagues around 1920 that includes MLB, the Negro NL and maybe another league with promotion and regulation. Is there any way to do this so that all teams have access to the same (real) rookies?

POSSIBLY using the association feature .... not certain with promo/regulation. i used associations in version 20 for a 10 year game span. if you have no draft and have free agents able to go to any league - and trades available between leagues -, i think it should work, but don't bet the farm on my guesses. after 10 game years , i merged everything into one large league and discarded the association.
