Why I love OOTP

Man, after playing this since OOTP13, and this league, in particular, since OOTP15, I just keep getting new reasons as to why I love this sim so much.

A little backstory, I am currently in my 24th season in my fictional league, the Legendary Baseball League, that started in 1940. I obviously take a slow approach, usually running simulations throughout the day. I typically finish 3 seasons in one calendar year.

Anyways, I always love the sense of randomness you feel, much like real life. This season, I had a feeling the Chicago Heroes were going to be a playoff contender due to having a modest jump in record the previous season (from 63 Wins to 76 Wins) and having some young prospects coming up, including a 19-year old phenom 3B. They also made a pretty decent trade to upgrade their 5th Starter and DH position, although the latter of which backfired. So I felt like I wouldn't be surprised if they took the 'leap' and dethroned the two-time defending Division champs and make the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. Another caveat, they got one of two new expansion teams that came into their league this season, and they are plenty terrible as you'd expect. Let's just say... I underestimated them after 100 games...

I wasn't expecting THIS... The current league record for wins in a season is 112. The Chicago Heroes are on pace for 128 wins! Not only that, of their five starters, these are their records and ERA: 18-2/1.90 ERA, 13-4/2.39 ERA, 15-3/2.22 ERA, 13-3/2.75ERA, and 9-5/3.56 ERA. That 19-year-old phenom, Joseph Catanzaro, is hitting .319/.368/.586 with 24 HR/77 RBI and while they are first in most categories, they aren't in all. It's like the perfect storm of a team that is insanely young and appears like they could rip off a dynasty. I just love OOTP for this type of randomness that happens once in a great while. I feel for the defending division champs who are on pace to win 100 games and miss the playoffs in what would normally be an awesome year, haha.

Thanks for sharing.
I started with OOTP21 and loved it.
Now 22 is a bit improved and I am addicted.
I started in 21 with the Angels and had a few good seasons. My owner died and his son took over and cut my budgets. I'm out ! First year with the Brew Crew we meet the Angels in the W.S. We lost in 7 games. After making the playoffs 5 of 7 years my current owner cuts the budget. I'm not happy. Might be my last season with them.
