I decided to play a different way

I've loved the game ever since I started playing OOTP 14; it's one of the most immersive and deepest sports sims I've played. I've only ever played Manager/GM mode, and I usually get bogged down in the many day-to-day decisions of fully running an organization.

But recently I saw someone on here mention following a player's career instead of an organization. So that's what I've done for OOTP 22. I put myself in the game, on my favorite team (the White Sox), and set everything to AI. I'm having so much more fun now, watching the games, seeing the moves made around the league, and having no control over anything that happens.

And this got me thinking about starting a historical save in 1871, automating the entire league, and just watching history rewrite itself.

Anyway, just wanted to share my new appreciation for a game I've already loved for years.

Love it. I've never understood why people want a game to simply repeat history. (Not telling anyone how to play, just saying I don't get the appeal of that.)

I had a Crusader Kings II save in which the Mongol Empire converted to Catholicism.

This is what I do with my league—which mind you, is fictional, but I do have the actual major leagues running alongside it, so it's been fun to see who gets signed where.

This is the only way I play - I have two fictional leagues and let the AI do everything. I enjoy just sitting back and watching everything play out, and then I post the results in the dynasty forum

I do that starting with the current season with a salary cap. When the Yankees turn into doormats, I'm like "how haven't they burned down Yankee Stadium yet?'
