How does ootp handle in season trading?
Im playing a league using teams from the 1930's and 1940's with no trades, injuries, financial etc.
The season started with the correct players on the correct teams, but in real life Al Gettel and Pat Seerry of the 1948 White Sox were traded to the 1948 Cleveland Indians for Bob Kennedy. The real life trade was made on 6/2/48. How does ootp handle real trades during the season. Is there a way for the AI to auto. make the trade on the actual date or do I have to manually edit the player to be put on the correct team on the given date? Again, I do not allow trades during the season in my league set up, but I want historically accurate rosters throughout the season. Thank you. |

How is the AI supposed to make a trade, if you don't allow trades?

So my goal is to allow the AI to make the actual trades that happened in real life but not make fictional trades, which is why I turned it off. I don't want say, Babe Ruth of the '27 yankees to be traded for Bob Feller of the '46 Indians. If I allow trades wont the AI make fictional trades as well? I am playing in commish. mode, so can I override any trades that did not actually happen?
This is the first time playing OOTP so Im not exactly sure how the trade settings work RL vs OOTP. |

if you use historical transactions - be aware that those don't work very well if you have any minor leagues in your game. Thus far, there isn't a minor league transaction to balance things. just a heads up is all.

If I understand correctly, you created a fictional league using teams from the 30's and 40's, correct ? If that is the case, I don't think historical transactions will work correctly (I could be wrong).
You may have to manually make those trades. If you are playing a "true" historical game (where all the teams are from the same real life season), then you can have historical transactions checked to reflect what happened IRL. |

So please correct me if I am wrong....your league setup is using teams from the 1930s and 1940s, not the historical year? Example, you have the 1948 Cleveland Indians in a league that contains teams from the 30s and 40s, not the actual 1948 season...right?
If that is the case, are you looking for teams to add players that they acquired during their particular season? So if that 1948 Indians team made a trade during the season from a team you do not have in your league, you want that player to show up on their roster and the player(s) they dealt away disappear? I do not think that is possible once you start up a league with teams across different years. If you were playing the 1948 season and selected the Historical Transactions, then those trades would happen automatically, but I think that the AI may make other trades that did not happen.....I could be wrong on that part though. |

So yes, I am using actual historical teams from different years set it up using the fictional league creation wizard. honestly didn't know which menu to choose between fictional vs historical based on how I wanted to set up my league. First time playing, so I guess I got a little ambitious for my first league.
* No minor leagues in my league* and trades are off. Anyway, I see your point, If the '48 Indians made a trade with the '48 RedSox and I don't have the '48 Redsox in my league how would it make the transaction. I guess my thought was since I am using historical transactions, the AI would just simply add the traded player to the '48 Indians OR remove a traded player on the given date that the trade was made, just so the rosters stay real throughout the season In one particular case though I do have the '48 Indians and '48 White sox in the same league and in real life they made a trade but did not show up in my league. I guess I just want all the correct players to be represented on a roster from beginning of year to end. So if a trade happened in July that player should no longer be on given team from July-September. Thats my thinking, but probably too complicated. On another topic, if I want to use real teams but from different years, isn't setting up a fictional league the only way to go vs historical? Historical is only for teams in the same season? Here are the teams and years in my league: |
