Perfect Team - How to update games after disconnection

I play Perfect Team on an iPhone 8+. As is the case with normal iPhone use, switching to another app and "doing stuff" often results in the OOTP app losing connection to the servers.

I get that. Although it would be nice to always be connected, it might not be practical.

What I don't get is what the best way is to get my games updated once I start playing again. When I got up this morning, I was on game day June 2. I would like to know of some method for me to tell the app "OK, I'm back now, tell me about what's happened since I left". I tried going back to the OOTP Start Screen and back in but I often have to wait quite a while for the games that happened over the past few inactive hours to update.

Any suggestions?
