Issues found in FHM7
Good morning, I've been playing FHM since FHM4 but just picked up 7 this past week. Here are some of the issues I've noticed, some of which have been in the game for several versions.
1. It seems some of my General Manager options get reset each year or at some random points? Maybe this is intentional? It's certainly not desirable. In particular, the giving my assistant the authority to promote/demote and assigning jersey numbers. I don't think you should ever reset my preferences, as they are MY preferences. The latter one is particularly annoying since it really happens at the start of a season and each season I forget to go reset it and then my autoplay is interrupted by something I asked not to be interrupted for. I'm very glad you added the option to allow the assistant to pick the jersey numbers but thanks to this reset it's not as helpful as it should be. [edit] Even with Assistant in charge of jersey numbers I just got prompted if it was ok that some player wants to change his jersey number. 2. This is not really a bug but a feature request. Is there any way to turn off the voting on the HoF all together? Again, it's very annoying to be constantly interrupted by this voting during a playoff run, especially since it seems every year there are multiple runoff votes. It's particularly frustrating when you are playing a historical season and you don't even know any of the people being voted on. 3. When I choose "Meet Demand" when signing free agents, the suggested contract should ALWAYS be acceptable to the player. I'm not really meeting demand when it's not. I'm specifically talking about minor league salary here. They sometimes tell me they'll sign for a specific salary but then complain the minor league salary is too low. Also when adding a 2-way contract to an existing offer can you make the minor league salary be appropriate such that a player would accept it? In the NHL anyway, it often defaults to a value NO ONE will accept. What's the point of this? It just makes us have to make more clicks. this one has been annoying me since FHM4. 4. I just did a California Seals run for the challenge. I did win two Stanley Cups before the Barons merged with Minnesota (yay me). I then noticed all the players became Free Agents. Technically they merged with Minnesota. Maybe this was just too difficult to work into the game mechanics? 5. This is just pure feedback. I'm not sure how I feel about the Scouting change. On one hand you made it a lot easier to understand. I am not surprised at Draft day having 70% of the players unscouted. On the other hand, it's so simplified it almost takes any real options away from the player. I feel I'm just throwing money (by hiring bodies) and not making any real decisions that matter. Also, I personally find it weird that I'm playing as the top league in the world (NHL) but people I hire as scouts aren't willing to relocate. Seriously? Some guy who's scouting high school games isn't willing to move to the other side of North America for a chance to work for an NHL Team? That doesn't seem realistic. Sure, maybe not relocate from Russia, but from another area of the same country sure would make sense. 6. Again pure feedback here. I like the introduction of the Scout recommendation in the draft. Please do a little more work in this area. Maybe instead of just a different set of rankings, have the scout rank his top 3-10 and provide a bit of information why he thinks they are the best bets. Even if he did it for his top pick I think that's an improvement over just another list. Right now I see his list that's different from the main list but I'm not sure I'm really understanding why. oh, and can we get the main list sortable based on the Central Scouting ranking? I find that odd that it's not there. I realize it gets a bit complicated because NA and European are ranked separately as well as forwards and goaltenders. Just some easy way to see who from the Central Scouting ranking is still available each round would be highly appreciated! Anyway, I'll try to report more as I play more. No, the game shouldn't be resetting any of your settings, other than restricting the ability to set lineups when you change to GM-only mode. The jersey numbers option definitely shouldn't be changed. (But yeah, the assistant should handle those number change requests as well, we'll change that.)
Unchecking "Exit Auto-Play when you receive a personal message" will skip those HoF messages (they can also be ignored, you don't have to answer them.) We'll check the defaults for the 2-way minor league salaries, I suspect I know what's going wrong there. Yeah, I've wanted to re-work the Cleveland-Minnesota merger for a long time, as well as add the accompanying dispersal draft. Just hasn't made it to the top of the list yet. More to come with scouting, we're definitely not done there. But we had to do the big restructuring last year to give us something practical to work with. |
