Way to not hold on runner?

Can’t find a way to stop holding on the runner. Is there one?

I take it as a matter of logic that if I don't throw over, use hold runner, and employ defenses like playing RHB to pull which moves the 1B away from the bag, then I'm not holding the runner.

I see this is for Go!, but suggest that similar logic would apply with the different choices available in either game. FWIW.
