Phillies Live Start: June 4, 2021

Unfortunately, my Cubs' save appears to have vanished and I'm undertaking a long-contemplated project, the Phillies live start.

Beginning at June 4 (26-29 record), I'm attempting to thread a narrow needle with a team built to win now but lacking the depth to actually do so.

I promise this will be among the most realistic and true-to-life franchises you'll find in the OOTP universe.

As a long-suffering Phils fan, I feel your pain. The first order of business would be to address the horrific - for a second year in a row - bullpen. About half the incumbents are ripe for DFA. Don’t bother shopping them, as no one wants them. There are some decent arms in the minors, and pieces to trade for relievers who can actually relieve. I hope you can keep them healthy. Lord knows it can be hard playing without Sir Didi, Harp, and others going down. Although it has been entertaining to see Maton and Williams rake in their first few games. Pitching is the key. They have three solid starters and not much else. And not many pieces to deal for a live arm SP. Fortunately, the Division is weak this year. The Mets have the talent, but a plague of injuries. DC is staying close. The Marlins can win on any given day. Only the Braves can be counted out at this point.

Been a lot of fun thus far. Acquired a few short-term rentals but came up short of the post-season. Division was so weak, but couldn't quite get there.

2021-22 off-season shaping us well thus far. Gradually jettisoned Matt Moore, Chase Anderson, David Hale, and Kintzler after taking over.

Plenty of turnover this off-season. Not listed below were Knapp and Torreyes deals (was not going to arb tender either of them) and Didi to San Fran.
