Corrupt save file - how to backup?

My save file that I’ve put an ungodly amount of hours into since the game released randomly says it’s corrupt when I go to load it. After trying like three times it prompted me that I could load from a backup file but I couldn’t get it to work. Now I can’t continue trying because I can’t get it to prompt the backup thing again. Any ideas? I’m heartbroken that I lose this save...

“The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an older version.”

This is the message I get when trying to load in.

have you tried to restore using the auto save feature? as long as you haven't saved the corrupt files, it should restore to the last save you have made.
