Sluggish play on computer

I bought a new Lenovo computer back after Christmas. My 22 version plays extremely sluggish. Difficulty on sharpness of moving players around and other issues. Anyone else experience this or could help a brother out? Would deleting and reinstalling help?

Do you have some PC specs for us? Video card? SSD drive? RAM?
I have a high end ROG laptop so I can't really compare to other systems.

My previous laptop was great but still sluggish with OOTP 21. SSD drive is extremely fast in my new system.

I'm sure others will chip in with some advise after they see your specs

I believe OOTP is a CPU heavy game and you do not have a very beefy one in your laptop. Even with a good CPU the game still lags on button presses if you are running it for a while. Try closing the game and opening it back up at least 2 times a year if you are having problems. You may also want to lower the amount of data tracked and stored in your sims to make it run faster.

one point eight?? I have ootp on a lenovo x220 that was new in 2014. I swapped in a SSD and maxed the RAM at 8G. It's a duo core only. But the processor is 2.50GHz, so it moves things along well enough. Even still, likely you want a CPU >3.0Ghz for ootp.

My computer is a desktop and I am confused. It runs 21 with lightning speed and no issues but the 22 version is just sluggish and lagging. Anyone think that deleting it and re-downloading and launching would help?

your computer is plenty fast enough for a 500kb simulation (once you strip all the other stuff it is tiny, whatever it is)

Does I5 have hyperthreading or whatever it is branded by the chipmaker?... can "double" cpus in a way that's great for other applications, but maybe not OOTP and most any 3d game for that matter. If so, use the actualy number of cores for the OOTP settings.. the app settings when you load it up, not in game settings (but can also get to them in a game). If it is on default or automatic etc, set it to actual number of cores.

even if no 'hyperthreading' go ahead and change that setting to a value from default. Won't hurt anything and it might help.

3d related:

go change fps to 30. This is still full motion to a human eye. a movie at a theatre is only ~24fps.

if that doesn't fix it, try toning down graphics levels.. one at a time or all at once depending on your goal here.. if less important, just bomb it down and see what happens... otherwise pick away at the stuff you care less about first.

if that stuff doesn't work, go dig around in GPU settings.

I have a pretty similar computer and no issues I wonder if it’s space related or if you have other things running at the same time that are causing lag
