Accurate NEL ratings
Hi gang
I was wondering if anybody out there has done any work on putting together historically accurate ratings for NEL players and, if so, they'd be willing to share it. I'm just after the raw data for all of the various ratings, am happy to go under the hood and enter it all from scratch. Obviously a few NEL players import OK - Cool Papa Bell, Josh Gibson and Oscar Charleston come to mind - but most others either import poorly or not at all. Hopefully this will be properly addressed in future versions. Thanks in advance. G |

I think Seamheads still has the best Negro Leagues database, although Baseball Reference has now added all NeL teams and players into its database as well. Is that what you're looking for?
I believe that some of the problems that people experience with NeL players in OOTP has to do with the lack of statistics for many of them. If a player only has stats for twenty games, OOTP will ding that player (on the theory that you don't want a guy with four hits in ten at-bats to win your league's batting title). That's true even though, in some cases, a NeL season might have only lasted twenty or thirty games. I believe that there's a setting that you can adjust to compensate for this - can't remember where it is at the moment. |
