How did the AI do this?

My fifth starter, Carl Hubbell, pitches 8 fine innings and gets a win. The next game, instead of starting Max Lanier, whose turn it is, the AI again starts Hubbell, who lasts five batters, giving up 3 hits and 2 walks without retiring a batter. The the bullpen takes over, with four other pitchers finishing it out. The game after that, the AI gets back on schedule by starting Fred Fitzsimmons, who follows Lanier in the rotation, which results in Lanier missing his turn.

The strategy slider for use of openers is set to "never." The starters are set to strict order and no use in relief. This was a real head scratcher. The games were played on consecutive days of he schedule.

I have wondered about some of the things the AI has done, but this is the strangest I've seen.

I've had the same experience, once anyway. Same thing, starter started 2 times in a row and screwed up the rotation for a few games. maybe we should report it as a bug?

Actually, I had two games last season where my starter was yanked in the first inning, but I didn't take a further look. I thought maybe it was an ejection for arguing or something. I can't really be sure if it was the same thing. Maybe others will read this and comment.

It was reported April 15

I checked the bug report forum and it is apparently a thing. No answer about what might be done about it yet.

DO THIS IT ABSOLUTELY WORKS...
Ok. I've also had problems a lot with AI skipping over a Starter(s) or starting a pitcher 2 days in a row. What I did and has been working properly is, go to your pitching staff, right click on #1 pitcher drop box opens..go down to STAFF, another drop box then choose whatever rotation spot that pitcher is in ie #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 if you use 6....I did this Saturday and my rotation has been keeping they starts in order. Remember don't put your #1 starter for any other poistion except #1.....same for the others but use corrosponding position the are currently in

This was an issue in the first edition of PT as well, where the AI was struggling with the Strict Rotation. Everybody I have seen this year reporting that issue all were also using Strict Rotation.

The fix back then was to use "Strict, Highest Rested" option instead. I assume the fix this time around is the same.
