PBE Weekly Recap Thread

This thread will be maintained by myself as a weekly update thread of the Pro Baseball Experience dynasty. This first post is merely information as to what the league is so I can spit out names, terms, etc. without having to constantly explain myself.

The PBE is a large (500+ users) simulated baseball league that simulates using Out Of The Park 23, where every user that joins creates a player, is drafted, and progresses through a career that they set for themselves by earning TPE through doing tasks. We have a monetary system, contracts that can be signed, jobs you can work in, and everyone’s favorite: equipment and training to purchase. As with real life sports the league has awards, all star festivities, stat junkies, hype beasts, and most importantly merchandise. To the average reader, though, things like this don’t necessarily matter. Let’s get into who and what composes the league.

There are two leagues. The minor leagues, which draft new players onto 10 different teams every season. These players then begin their careers on these teams for a season, where they begin to learn the ropes of the league and immerse themselves into the fabric and camaraderie of the Pro Baseball Experience. Then there’s the major leagues, which draft players that have been in the minors for a season. The majors teams will then call each player up as they need them, but can only keep a player down in the minors for four seasons after they’re drafted. The majors teams are responsible for contracts, free agency, and a lot of other operations, whereas the minors are more simple and straightforward, similar to the NBA G-League in real life.

Enough unimportant stuff though. Let’s meet the teams, starting with the minors teams. Only current teams are listed, though there has been some expansion/contraction and rebranding throughout league history.

Minors Teams:

There are 10 teams in the minors, split into two 5-team conferences:

East:
  • Florida Flamingos
  • State College Swift Steeds
  • Puerto Rico Ranas
  • Chicago Kingpins
  • Louisville Lemurs
West:
  • Anchorage Wheelers
  • Amarillo Armadillos
  • Kansas City Hepcats
  • California Firehawks
  • Brew City Bears

Notes:
  • The reigning league champion is the Florida Flamingos, who defeated the Puerto Rico Ranas in the minors world series.
  • The Amarillo Armadillos have the most rings in the league with 7
  • The Louisville Lemurs and Puerto Rico Ranas have never won a ring.
  • The league gives out the Emi Memorial Award at the end of each season to commemorate one of the great league users who unfortunately lost a battle with cancer. It awards the minor league player who has made the most impact on the league.
  • Each team has a discord server and is managed by a GM or Co-GMs to help each player succeed and achieve their goals, while offering build advice, tips for earning, and pushing for league activity.

Majors Teams:

There are 16 total majors teams. There are two conferences, Legends and Champions. Each conference is broken up into two divisions. They are as follows:

Legends Conference:

East:
  • New York Voyagers
  • Outer Banks Aviators (commonly referred to as OBX)
  • Providence Crabs
  • Buffalo Surge

West:
  • San Antonio Sloths
  • Vancouver Vandals
  • Boise Raptors
  • Maui Makos

Champions Conference:

East:
  • Lunar Base Space Rangers
  • Nashville Stars
  • Detroit Demons
  • Indianapolis Apex

West:
  • Death Valley Scorpions
  • Cancun Toros
  • New Orleans Rougarous
  • Seattle Sea Serpents

Notes:
  • Nashville, who was viewed as one of the most cursed (bad luck) franchises in league history just won the majors world series last season, their first ring as a franchise. They defeated the Providence Crabs.
  • The Maui Makos, Lunar Base Space Rangers, and Buffalo Surge have never won a championship.
  • The San Antonio Sloths and Death Valley Scorpions are the two winningest teams in PBE history, each with 8 championships and sporting the two overall best winning percentages in league history.
  • The Vancouver Vandals won 5 rings in a row from seasons 2-6, but have not won a championship since.
  • Each team has a discord server and is managed by a GM or Co-GMs to help each player succeed and achieve their goals, while offering build advice, tips for earning, and pushing for league activity.

To conclude, this thread will be a weekly update as to the league happenings of the PBE, both minors and majors. I will be highlighting important league trends and recapping our sims (broadcast live on Twitch using OOTP23) weekly. Full disclosure, I have an active league player, Benny Sheets, who is a starting pitcher for the Nashville Stars of the majors (and former starter for the Chicago Kingpins of the minors). With that said, I will try to remain as unbiased as possible, and will simply be acting as a kinda “beat reporter” for the league.

Quick Recap Of Recent League Activities:
  • We are currently in the offseason.
  • Florida won the minors World Series
  • Nashville won the majors World Series
  • Both the minors and majors drafts just concluded. There were approximately 50 players in each draft.
  • Regression just set in, which is where players that have been playing for 10 or more seasons lose TPE in order to simulate aging patterns of real life baseball (obviously you’ll regress more the longer you’ve been in the league)
  • The league also had its awards stream this afternoon, where users across the league act as voters to select silver sluggers, gold gloves, MVPs, ROTYs, and POTYs. I won’t go into the specifics of each award, but the races as a whole were very close across both the minors and majors.
  • The Tahini Classic is coming up next Tuesday and will be streamed live on Twitch. This is a once per season single elimination tournament featuring all the minors and majors teams in a bracket. Users have the opportunity to submit brackets (similar to March Madness) to win PBE money as a competition.

If you want to look at league history, lore, and stats, direct yourself to the league index page: http://www.pbesim.com/

Thank you for reading the post! I will have more PBE content coming weekly as Season 38 of the Pro Baseball Experience gets under way (in a much less messy format).

PBE Weekly Update #2

Welp, I’m back with the second rendition of the PBE weekly recap thread! It was a busy week in the PBE, with spring training occupying the week of simulating. Spring Training gives rookies a chance to meet and play with their team, and for managers to test new lineups and game plans. Like with real life Spring Training, there are always a couple of surprises across the league, which will be covered in this post. Let’s get into another week of PBE action!

This post will cover:
  • Spring Training Results and Takeaways (sorted by Minors and Majors)
  • The Standout performances of Spring Training (sorted by Minors and Majors)
  • The Broadcast Schedule for Opening Week
  • Other Pertinent Information (Quick-Hitters)

Spring Training Results:

I am going to list off the standings and records of Spring training for every PBE team, then discuss takeaways I had from spring training in each conference. The majors played 24 spring training games, and the minors played 20 spring training games. Team records are in parentheses.

Majors:

Legends East:
  • Providence Crabs (14-10)
  • Outer Banks Aviators (12-12)
  • Buffalo Surge (12-12)
  • New York Voyagers (9-15)

Legends West:
  • San Antonio Sloths (13-11)
  • Vancouver Vandals (13-11)
  • Boise Raptors (12-12)
  • Maui Makos (11-13)

Legends Takeaways:
  • Providence continues to have a strong team, finishing with the best record in the Legends conference coming off their world series loss.
  • Outer Banks is on the rise! The Aviators have been mired in rebuilding for what feels like forever, however a .500 spring training could indicate that that rebuild could be ending in the next season or two.
  • The same can be said for the Maui Makos, who have yet to make the playoffs in their existence. A team that feels like they are always rebuilding, the Makos have a strong core that is just starting to hit its prime. It may not be the breakthrough year for the Makos yet, but their future looks bright.
  • What happened to the New York Voyagers? They are a team always picked to make the playoffs and perform well every season, however they registered an abysmal 9-15 Spring Training record. They have to make significant strides if they want to contend this season.

Champions East:
  • Detroit Demons (16-8)
  • Nashville Stars (14-10)
  • Lunar Base Space Rangers (13-11)
  • Indianapolis Apex (11-13)

Champions West:
  • Seattle Sea Serpents (15-9)
  • Death Valley Scorpions (12-12)
  • New Orleans Rougarous (12-12)
  • Cancun Toros (3-21)

Champions Takeaways:
  • Similarly to last season, the Detroit Demons won a lot of games. Will they be able to translate a high winning percentage to postseason success? We’ll see in season 38.
  • Nashville, similarly to Providence, had a good spring training. There are a couple new additions to the Stars in Cookie Monster and Apollo Summerville, who appear to have meshed with the existing team well. Look for them to continue contending this season despite having an aging core of players.
  • Lunar Base is blasting off. A franchise that has struggled recently, and rebranded just a couple of seasons ago, Lunar Base is desperate for some success. This might not be the year they win it all, but look for them to at least threaten to make the postseason as they march into the regular season with momentum.
  • The Toros have a ways to go. They have a lot of draft picks in past and upcoming drafts, so there will be a young core that should be able to lead them back to the playoffs. Right now that core just isn’t close to being able to contend yet. Trust the process, Toros fans.

Minors:

East:
  • Florida Flamingos (11-9)
  • State College Swift Steeds (11-9)
  • Puerto Rico Ranas (11-9)
  • Chicago Kingpins (10-10)
  • Louisville Lemurs (6-14)

West:
  • Amarillo Armadillos (12-8)
  • California Firehawks (11-9)
  • Anchorage Wheelers (10-10)
  • Kansas City Hepcats (10-10)
  • Brew City Bears (8-12)

Minors Takeaways:
  • The Chicago Kingpins and Kansas City Hepcats each had a relatively poor spring training, as each finished .500 and are projected to have the best season records in the minor leagues.
  • DILLO DILLO: The Amarillo Armadillos dazzled to a league-best 12-8 spring training record. One of the more recent powerhouses, look for Amarillo to continue being a force in the minors.
  • How mighty have fallen: The Brew City Bears, who won the world series just two seasons ago, finds themselves with the second-worst record in the minors. They have to make a turnaround in the regular season if they want to contend for titles any time soon.
  • The Lemurs may have had the worst record in the minors, but they are under new leadership, as Sory just recently stepped into the GM chair for Louisville. They should be trending upward in a couple seasons. It will take time though.

Now that we’ve discussed the teams’ spring training, let’s look at some standout players!

Standout Players of Spring Training:

This section of the post will highlight players that had particularly strong preseasons, and those that might have turned some heads in the process.

Minors:
  • JewThe TheJew (1B, Amarillo Armadillos): TheJew led the minor leagues in batting average (.386), slugging percentage (.719), and OPS (1.174). He was also second in OBP (.455). He was the best bat on the best team throughout spring training. Look for JewThe to find his way into the MVP conversation if he can continue this production into the regular season.
  • Allison Chainz (1B, California Firehawks): Chains was largely overshadowed by his cold corner counterpart JewThe TheJew, however, he too had a statistically stellar spring training. He led the league in home runs (8), total bases (55), and isolated power (.333). He was second in slugging percentage (.679) and OPS (1.068). Chainz most likely won’t be in the minor leagues much longer, but they will continue to rake until they leave.
  • Chicago Kingpin Relief Pitchers: Beeg Yosh and Ouro Kronii led the way for Chicago’s bullpen. Coming into this season, both were regarded as depth pieces, however, they each had fantastic training, and did well in limited spring action. Yosh led the minors in saves (4), and K/9 (14.2). Ouro Kronii was second in BB/9 (a perfect 0.0), and Bauer Bottom was third in the league in wins (3).
  • Anyone that plays for the Armadillos: They had an awesome spring training record, and featured the best offense and pitching in the league. They could do no wrong, so the entire roster collectively gets a shoutout here.

Majors:
  • Matt Dubson (RF, Lunar Base Space Rangers): Turning in the best statistical spring training I’ve ever seen, Dubson led the PBE in nothing short of seven categories. He was top of the boards in batting average (.359), slugging percentage (.826), OPS (1.261), RBIs (35), OBP (.435), isolated power (.467), and extra-base hits (21). If it was possible to win the MVP from a spring training performance, Dubson would’ve been the one to do it. Lunar base has to be ecstatic to get this type of performance out of their Right Fielder.
  • Hayden Andrews (DH, Nashville Stars): largely overshadowed by the heroics of Matt Dubson, Hayden Andrews quietly had an excellent spring training for the Stars. He led the league in home runs (13), was second in slugging percentage (.734), third in OPS (1.093), second in RBIs (27), fourth in extra-base hits (16), and second in isolated power (.447). As Andrews hits his peak TPE and is barely regressing, look for him to be one of the best statistical hitters the PBE has to offer.
  • Acheoar Hippocrites (RP, Indianapolis Apex): Hippocrites led the PBE in spring training saves (4) and batting average against (.098). He was also third in ERA (1.02) and second in BABIP (.167). While the elite Apex defense might play a factor in these stats, Hippocrites has a very bright future in the Apex bullpen, and will look to be one of the elite PBE closers this season.
  • Parker Parton (SP, Nashville Stars): Parton stepped over the regressing Glenallen Mixon to become the ace of the Stars roster in the last offseason. Spring training was nothing but positive signs for Nashville. Parton led the league in innings pitched (41.2), strikeouts (52), and wins (4). He did all this to the tune of the fourth-best ERA (1.30), second-best BABIP (.147), and the most quality starts (4). Look for him to be in the running for the pitcher of the year for a team that is contending for its second franchise title.

Opening Week Broadcast Schedule:

  • Tuesday (2/14): Opening day stream with LegallyBlindGamer, myself, and Hummus God at 6 pm EST.
  • Wednesday (2/15): LegallyBlindGamer and Bauer bring PBE action at 6pm EST.
  • Thursday (2/16): Ajay887 and an unknown cohost bring PBE action at 6pm EST.
  • Saturday (2/19): Distillation and Lumosityfan feature in a PBE matinee at 2pm EST.

Other Information:
  • All minors and majors teams successfully signed their rookie classes to contracts!
  • The San Antonio Sloths trade 1.75 million in cap space for season 40 to the Cancun Toros for 1.75 million in cap space for season 39.
  • The Vancouver Vandals traded 200k in cap space for season 40 to the Maui Makos for 200k in cap space for season 38.
  • The Vancouver Vandals traded 150k in cap space for season 40 to the Cancun Toros for 150k in cap space for season 38.
  • The Nashville Stars and Florida Flamingos are reigning champions, and their quest to repeat starts Tuesday.
  • We stream all our sims live on twitch! Search “pbesim” to find us.

PBE Weekly Update #3

Another week, another report from me with PBE action! This week I will list and discuss the records of every team and show the standings in each division. I will then highlight the teams that are over performing or under-performing, then will end the week highlighting a couple of impressive performances on the individual or group level. The post will then conclude by reminding everyone of our simming schedule, and highlight the broadcasting talents in the booth this week! My apologies as well, this post was supposed to be up on Saturday, but I ran into some real life things (my birthday) that prevented me from sitting down to write this article up.

Majors Standings:
This section will break down the standings in each division of the PBE, as well as the relevant Wildcard races (not this week, since we’re only one week into the four week season), then present takeaways from the standings in each conference. As a reminder, there will be two wildcard teams per conference in addition to the teams that win each division.

Legends Conference

Legends East:
  • New York Voyagers (19-8)
  • Outer Banks Aviators (18-9)
  • Buffalo Surge (13-14)
  • Providence Crabs (11-16)

Legends West:
  • San Antonio Sloths (15-12)
  • Vancouver Vandals (15-12)
  • Maui Makos (9-18)
  • Boise Raptors (8-19)

Legends Wildcard:
  • Will be discussed in later weeks when teams vying for a wildcard spot become more clear.

Legends Takeaways:

  • A bad spring training did not affect the New York Voyagers, as they have been on a torrid run to start the year. They’ve raced out to the best record in the PBE (19-8) behind generating a staggering 6.1 runs per game. They have the best offense in the league by a significant margin, but their pitching staff (3.54 collective ERA) leaves room to be desired. If their bats stay hot, look for them to be a force in the Legends conference.
  • The rebuild might have finally ended for the Outer Banks Aviators! They hold the second-best record in the league, only a game behind the Voyagers (18-9). Opposite of the Voyagers, they’ve been winning games with very effective pitchers (2.80 collective ERA). Despite only manufacturing 3.7 runs per game, they’re sitting pretty due to a plethora of elite pitchers. Look for them to continue pushing the Voyagers in the Legends East.
  • The San Antonio Sloths and Vancouver Vandals are dead even after week 1 (15-12 records). Both teams are looking to continue postseason streaks, and both are likely better than their records. Look for this to be a tight division race as the season continues. Right now, I’d give the edge to the Sloths, however we definitely should not discount what the Vandals are able to do, despite their aging core.
  • The Providence Crabs, coming off a season that saw them make a playoff run into the World Series, appear to be in rebuilding mode. They sit at 11-16 and have a lot of work to do if they want to climb back over .500.

Champions Conference

Champions East:
  • Nashville Stars (18-9)
  • Detroit Demons (14-13)
  • Lunar Base Space Rangers (12-15)
  • Indianapolis Apex (8-19)

Champions West:
  • Death Valley Scorpions (18-9)
  • Seattle Sea Serpents (18-9)
  • New Orleans Rougarous (15-12)
  • Cancun Toros (5-22)

Champions Wildcard:

  • Will be discussed in later weeks when teams vying for a wildcard spot become more clear.

Champions Takeaways:
  • The Nashville Stars look poised to reclaim the Champions East division title after the Detroit Demons clinched it last season. Their title repeat quest has kicked off in a good fashion, as they sit with a record of 18-9, led by a strong pitching core (more on this later).
  • Look out for the Lunar Base Space Rangers. They suffered a brutal 0-7 opening day stream, but have quietly been a serviceable 12-8 since that stream. This is a team that can make some noise, especially in the wildcard race. Led by a strong pitching staff, they can put some pressure on Nashville if the bats come around.
  • The Champions West continues to be a bloodbath of a division, with three teams (Death Valley, Seattle, NOLA) that all appear to be contending. Of that bunch, I find it likely that the Death Valley Scorpions will come back to earth in the next couple of weeks, as they are faring significantly better than what was projected at the beginning of the season.
  • Poor Cancun Toros…. They are deep into the rebuilding tank, and are just trying to acquire draft picks at this point. They have both the worst batting and worst pitching in the majors. The good news for them is that this next draft will be loaded with top prospects to retool the future of the franchise. They should be ready to contend in the future!

Minors Standings:

West Division:
  • California Firehawks (16-11)
  • Anchorage Wheelers (16-11)
  • Kansas City Hepcats (15-12)
  • Brew City Bears (11-16)
  • Amarillo Armadillos (9-18)

East Division:
  • Louisville Lemurs (16-11)
  • Chicago Kingpins (15-12)
  • Florida Flamingos (14-13)
  • Puerto Rico Ranas (12-15)
  • State College Swift Steeds (11-16)

Minors Takeaways:
  • WHERE? HOW? WHO?!?!?! The Louisville Lemurs, out of nowhere, have captivated the league with a 16-11 start to a season where they were picked to be a league-average team at best. This included a perfect first sim to begin the regular season.
  • The Florida Flamingos have some work to do to separate themselves from the pack. The reigning world champs are only 14-13, a testament to how competitive the minor leagues are.
  • Turnover within the Puerto Rico Ranas! Yesterday Musha announced that they would be stepping down from managing the Ranas, and that there will be a new person at the helm of the team for the next season. Congrats on a fantastic career Musha! You were robbed of several best management awards.
  • It’s anyone’s game. Half the league is within two games, so there will definitely be some drama down the home stretch of this season. Let the best team win!

This Week’s Top Performers:
In this column I will highlight several key performers in each league (Minors and Majors). These players or groups of players are playing good baseball and are worthy of recognition.

Minors:
  • Kasey Vyda (LF, Kansas City Hepcats): In the opening week, Vyda was one of the best hitters in the minor leagues, leading the league in Batting Average (.389), OBP (.481), OBPS (1.045). They are also third in WAR (1.6), first in hits (41), and third in total bases (61). Quickly throwing their name into MVP hat, Kasey Vyda is becoming a household name.
  • Long Ball (CF, California Firehawks): Largely overshadowed by Kasey Vyda, Long Ball has had a fantastic start to the regular season. They actually have more WAR than Vyda (1.7), and are leading the league in slugging percentage (.607). Coupled with a fourth-best .346 batting average, and Mr. Ball has a second-best OBPS (1.018). One of the premier power hitters, they also lead the minors in home runs (7) and have the second-highest isolated power rating (.243). If their defense would slightly improve, they could be a shoe-in for the MVP.
  • John Botison (RP, Louisville Lemurs): Despite being a relief pitcher, they have dazzled this season. The name Botison appears in no short of 10 league leader columns, and he has been arguably the best relief pitcher in the minors leagues this season. To highlight key stats, they lead the MiLPBE in wins (5), games pitched (17), WHIP (0.94), Hits/9IP (6.5), and Opponents’ OBP (.244). They are amongst the best relievers in terms of volume and production. One of the reasons the Lemurs have been good this season, look for them to become one of the faces of the league in a few seasons.

Majors:
  • Joey Moose (3B, New York Voyagers): Moose leads the PBE in Batting Average (.396), OBP (.429), and OBPS (1.117). What more needs to be said! He has racked up 1.8 Wins Above Replacement en route to leading New York to a league-best 19-8 record in this young season. Currently the best bat on the best offense in the PBE, Joey Moose is becoming one of the faces of the league.
  • Anyone that pitches for the Outer Banks Aviators: What more needs to be said! They have an offense that is well below league-average, yet find themselves with the second-best record in the Major leagues due to some spectacular pitching performances. Gionna Morgan and Walrus Jones rank second and third in pitching WAR (2.0, 1.5) in the young season, and both match the appearance of elite arms for the Alaska team. Any batter should expect their average to dip when they face OBX.
  • The One-Two Batting Punch of the Seattle Sea Serpents: Jose Slothseco and Rocout Wthyer Crocsout combine to lead the PBE in 10 hitting categories. They are the top two batters in the Champions conference in the only statistic that matters, OBPS (1.084 and 1.021, respectively). Additionally, Seattle as a team has put up 5.4 runs per game leaning on the two of the best hitters in the PBE. Both should be worthy of the MVP conversation, and Serpents fans should only hope that they don’t hurt each others’ chances.
  • Nashville Stars Starting Pitching: Parker Parton, Glenallen Mixon, Apollo Summerville, Benny Sheets. Remember the names. They combine to have an ERA of 2.79. That’s a pretty low total for four starting pitchers. Nashville should continue to lean on them to maintain their successful season. If they want to repeat, they will need all of their pitchers to perform, which they’ve done so far.

Recent Milestones:

Congrats to recent career milestones achieved by PBE players!

  • 1,000 Hits, Stan Dupp Vancouver Vandals
  • 25 Triples, Will Love New Orleans Rougarous
  • 750 Runs, Bobby McDonald Jr. San Antonio Sloths
  • 300 SB, Park Factors New Orleans Rougarous
  • 125 Starts, Aduke Singh Seattle Sea Serpents
  • 1,000 IP, Jormungandr Ragnarok Lunar Base Space Rangers
  • 1,250 Hits, Ignacio Encarnacion - New York Voyagers
  • 1,000 K's, Sportsboy57 - Providence Crabs
  • 1,750 IP, Glenallen Mixon - Nashville Stars

  • 200 HR, Trevor Duncan Lunar Base Space Rangers
  • 150 HR, W.R. Wolf New Orleans Rougarous
  • 100 Wins (Pitcher), S'Vanaleigh Mykutowicz San Antonio Sloths
  • 1,000 IP, Walrus Jones Outer Banks Aviators

Season 37 Records:

Season 37 of the PBE Yielded a few significant single-season totals at both the Majors and Minors level! They are as seen below:

Majors:

  • Dustin Johnson, Providence Crabs - Legends Triple Crown Winner: .309 AVG 31 HR 98 RBI
  • Constantine Kahn, San Antonio Sloths - Retires #1 All-time in career ERA in PBE history: 2.270 ERA

Minors:
  • Michael Ferris Brueller Jr, Anchorage Wheelers - Batting Average in a season: .3809 AVG
  • Michael Ferris Brueller Jr, Anchorage Wheelers - Hits in a season: 179 Hits
  • Michael Ferris Brueller Jr, Anchorage Wheelers - Singles in a season: 153 Singles

PBE Weekly Update #4

‘Twas the week before the all-star break, and the Season 38 of the Probaseball Experience is well underway! This post will be another weekly recap of the ever-exciting league. It will feature a standings update, players performing well, new career milestones, the all star teams, and the broadcast schedule for the upcoming week.

  • New York Voyagers (38-16)
  • Outer Banks Aviators (32-22)
  • Buffalo Surge (27-27)
  • Providence Crabs (23-31)
Legends West:
  • Vancouver Vandals (33-21)
  • San Antonio Sloths (29-25)
  • Boise Raptors (22-32)
  • Maui Makos (19-35)

Legends Takeaways:
  • Remember talking about how the Maui Makos might be finally breaking through? Yea… throw that in the dumpster for this season. While the future remains bright for the franchise trying to make its first ever postseason, it would appear that that future is a ways away from season 38.
  • The New York Voyagers continue to wreak havoc upon the rest of the PBE with a league-best 38-16 record. They have the best bats in the Legends conference by a wide margin in almost every measurable statistic, highlighted by the team averaging a staggering 5.5 runs scored per game.
  • If you’re a Providence Crabs fan, the World Series last season probably feels like last century to you. They find themselves at the bottom of the Legends East division with a 23-31 record. They have several extremely high level players on the roster, including James Ronlain, Sportsboy57, A Real Name, Whiskey Fuse, and Bobby Roode, however they on average have not been able to carry the rest of the team into the playoffs.
  • The Buffalo Surge have quietly crawled their way back to .500, sitting at a 27-27 record at the break. They continue to sit right in the middle of the pack statistically across both their batters and pitchers. Will they finally return to the postseason this year? It will be interesting to find out!

Champions Conference

Champions East:

  • Nashville Stars(32-22)
  • Detroit Demons (28-26)
  • Lunar Base Space Rangers (28-26)
  • Indianapolis Apex (17-37)

Champions West:
  • New Orleans Rougarous (34-20)
  • Seattle Sea Serpents (32-22)
  • Death Valley Scorpions (28-26)
  • Cancun Toros (10-44)

Champions Takeaways:
  • The New Orleans Rougarous have been surging recently, and find themselves with the best record in a Champions conference that is quite crowded at the top. Their 34-20 mark is highlighted by the well rounded aspect of the team. Their pitching staff and batting lineup are both rated above league-average this season, and this balanced approach appears to be paying off.
  • Lunar Base continues to push forward! They’re back over .500 for the first time in several seasons, and actually have a legitimate chance at a wildcard playoff berth!
  • The race for the final Wildcard spot in the Champions conference looks to be a three team race between the Detroit Demons, Lunar Base Space Rangers, and Death Valley Scorpions. The Seattle Sea Serpents are only slightly ahead in the race though. It’s anyone’s game!

Minors Standings:

West Division:
  • Kansas City Hepcats (30-25)
  • California Firehawks (29-26)
  • Brew City Bears (27-28)
  • Amarillo Armadillos (24-31)
  • Anchorage Wheelers (23-32)

East Division:
  • Florida Flamingos (30-25)
  • Louisville Lemurs (30-25)
  • Chicago Kingpins (30-25)
  • State College Swift Steeds (27-28)
  • Puerto Rico Ranas (25-30)
Minors Takeaways:
  • The East division appears stronger on average than the West division, as it features three teams with 30 wins.
  • Wait…. A three-way tie for first? A three way tie for first. This is the new MiLPBE I guess.
  • The Louisville Lemurs have finally returned to the pack a little bit, as they have been caught by both the Florida Flamingos and Chicago Kingpins in the standings. They do continue to have the best bullpen in the minors, which has paid dividends for them.
  • The Kansas City Hepcats have returned to their regularly scheduled programming atop the West division. Their team has been led by their bats, which are in the upper third of the league in production.
This Week’s Top Performers:
In this column I will highlight several key performers in each league (Minors and Majors). These players or groups of players are playing good baseball and are worthy of recognition.

Minors:
  • Parker Ness (SP, State College Swift Steeds): The minors pitcher of the month for June, he went 4-0 with a 1.72 ERA across 31.1 innings pitched. He also recorded 25 strikeouts and only 10 walks.
  • Franklin Demars (LF, Amarillo Armadillos): In addition to leading the Minor leagues in Batting Average (.357), Homeruns (17), and RBIs (51), he had a fantastic month, even for his high standards. In June, Demars hit for a .409 batting average with 10 homeruns, 29 RBIs, and scored 17 runs. It’s looking like a MVP award for Demars if he can maintain this production.
  • Mitch Goatbisky (RP, Chicago Kingpins): is throwing to a league-best 2.17 ERA this season. He converted from a starter to a reliever with Eric Belmont recreating, and has continued to be effective in his new role. He hasn’t been elite in any category such as strikeouts or walks allowed, but he has been solid nonetheless largely due to the defense behind him.

Majors:
  • Mickey Littlefield (SP, Cancun Toros): Maybe the one bright spot in a dark month in a dark season, Mickey Littlefield was outstanding in June. He earned Rookie of the month honors in the Champions conference by throwing to a 3.82 ERA with 13 punchouts in 30.2 innings. His future, regardless of the organization he plays for, is bright.
  • Huston Haze (RF, New Orleans Rougarous): The Champions Conference batter of the month in June, Haze hit to a .353 clip with 10 homeruns, 24 RBIs, and 18 runs scored.
  • TGP (LF, New York Voyagers): hitting .311 with 9 homers in the month of June, one of the game’s premier power bats found themselves the title of Legends Conference batter of the month. He also had 23 RBIs and scored 20 runs.
  • Joey Moose (3B, New York Voyagers): While not remaining entirely on the torrid pace he started the season on, Moose has continued to lead the league in Batting Average, his mark currently sitting at .345. Coupled with a .400 OBP and a .560 Slugging Percentage, Joey Moose finds themselves still squarely in the running for the MVP award.
