Broadcasting Deals?

Not sure if these were edited but they seem way off.

Brewers make much more then the Cubs, while the Cubs are on nationally on WGN?

This would be an issue with the roster set that you have and not the game. Also, I'm not sure whether or not the creator of your set (probably GForce) edited the deals for accuracy or not.

As others have mentioned before ...

OOTP doesn't know it is the Cubs who play on WGN, just as much as they don't know who the player are, persay...

If you disagree with it, then simply change it.

One thing I didn't like about the game (and I hate to complain but It's nothing major) is that, unlike the merchandise, even if you change the broadcast revenue to something realistic, like 75 million, and the team still does well, when the contract is renewed, it will return back to the maximum of maybe 22 million.

it has nothing to do with the roster. Broadcasting deals were not touched. I'm going to look into this and see if I can come up with better numbers. I think it has a lot to do with the older vets getting cut issue.

Why do teams get varying cuts of the national TV deal?

The game is not based on "modeling real life finances" from MLB, the desire was to add a challenge to the game and also make the financial system balanced to a certain degree.

For the way the game is designed, as Steve said, it's fine the way it is. But when people started clamoring for real salaries and such, basically to get that right I need to try to work around the way the game handles finances. That part is a work in progress. Hopefully with some adjustments I can get the TV deals where they will help the finances in the MLB set with TotalMinors.

Quick newbie question...how do you know this? Are you saying that teams X, Y, and Z get portions of team B's national TV deal? If I did understand your comment correctly, then again, how do you know? Does it list this somewhere? Thanks in advance.

I'm (essentially) a newbie too.

If you look at the team front office screens - it shows that team X gets 10 mil of the national TV deal, team Y gets 12 mil, etc... In real life, the national TV monies are (normally) spread out evenly.

Steve, your answer is the reason that I hoped to see - though I'm not sure why this isn't handled entirely on the local revenue side. Then again, I'm sure you have your reasons...

Just to sum up, here's the situation:

We have two separate TV deals, national and local, in OOTP. The only reason to separate the two would be that one stays static and the other changes. This has nothing to do with the standard "OOTP doesn't model real pro baseball" line.

So, my question would be, why wouldn't you use the LOCAL TV deals to balance finances as much as needed? Seems like you could vary those, but leave the national deal alone.

The other reason to separate the two is that they change in different years. So you have to be consistently good/popular to keep both of them high, (or bad/unpopular to make them low) not just hit the one right year.
