In game save button
This game really needs an in game save button. I shouldn't have to go back out to the main menu and save every time I need to save a freaking game! Damn thing crashes AGAIN on me and I lost a whole freaking game because of random crashes. I play out every game and I don't have time to go back and play freaking games when it crashes in the 8th inning of a close game!

While playing a game top right corner options the last item save and exit.
From game screen under file save game. I may have exact wording off, not in front of the game. |

Ya...you have to exit the game and go to the main menu to save it. I don't wanna leave the game. A simple Control-S option would be great.

This will take you back to the schedule screen. You can re-enter the game at any time. You can play another game and come back to the first one afterwards if you wish. |

If you are talking about inside a game itself, under options there is a save game and leave but this will only save this game. If you want to quit and come back to this game then yes, you also have to save the game under the file menu.

So you just want to save a game at various points but keep playing. Then be able to go back and start over from that saved point?
Can't be done, nor should it be in the game imo. |

Here is my thread from the bug section last year where my computer would crash to reboot while playing OOTP 21. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...ighlight=Sweed OOTP support worked with me to try to resolve though, as they thought, it ended up being my brand new machine. Acer ended up sending me a new computer as they could not find a fix and OOTP has worked fine ever since But onto this issue...What I had to do to get through a game was to save often as my crashes would come out of nowhere. So I would always save at least after inning 5. I would also save after any score changes as I wanted to not only preserve my wins but also my losses. Nothing eats at me more than having the game crash and not getting the original results whatever they may be. The problem with "save and leave" is it only takes you out to OOTP "proper" for a lack of a better term. I could do this, return to my on-going game, then have a crash to reboot, and on reloading OOTP my "in progress game was not saved". The only way for me to be able to save and continue my game if I had the crash was to "save and leave" >exit OOTP and trigger autosave > restart OOTP > enter my on-going game. Now if my game crashed I could at least reload OOTP and not lose what I had already played. This was a huge pain and took my average game time of about 30 minutes to closer to an hour per. It sucked big time but it was the only way I could get through. What he is asking for, I think, is that "save and leave" would also trigger the OOTP "proper" autosave so in case OOTP crashes he does not lose what he has already done. I'm not sure if OOTP could do this unless it would automatically exit the game entirely and restart. When the "save and leave" option was added several versions ago I was surprised it didn't just... save the game in progress > exit OOTP and autosave Then require you to restart OOTP to continue. Never occurred to me it would just go out of "play a game" mode to be able to peruse all other menus. I'm not sure even if OOTP worked this way the OP would be happy. I know if it worked that way while I was having my issue I would have been thrilled. You are right in that if autosave triggered without exiting OOTP it would lead to a ability to easily save and start over. Though as my issue last year shows it can still be done just not easily. I agree, it shouldn't be easy. I think if the game would exit entirely on "save and leave" it would at least make the OP issue easier to handle. Yes, it would require restarting OOTP meaning the only time added would be the reload time as the autosave is always going to take whatever time it takes. Still a pain but about as good a solution as one could expect, at least to my thinking

I get it may be crash related, and I do sympathize with the problem, really.
However the fact that someone is having crashes does not justify adding an easy exploitation to the game. I don't have an answer for the crash problem, but the solution isn't achieved by adding easy ways to manipulate results. |

If Total War games can do it, OOTP can figure out a way to do it. |

If someone didn't like the results of a play after the save, they could 'rewind" to the save point until they got the desired result.

I guess i don't really get the issue...i can already change anything in the game already via commisioner mode and heck, if i wanted to i could end the task in task manager after the game before saving and reload if i didnt like the outcome. I wish it had an ingame save as well as i've had my fair share of crashes mid-game before. I remember in 21 i had crashes when making substitutions. I've also lost multiple games because it crashed between games and before a save.

That's exactly what I do. Since buying OOTP22 I have lost 3 games due to random crashes. One was in the 8th inning and it was really frustrating. I now save every game after innings 3 and 6 are completed, or I'll save after a major event occurs, just in case it does crash again, that way I won't lose my progress.
