Baseball Cards - When do you generate them??

Referring to the "Make cards for all players" option, next to "make team picture", when is the best time to generate baseball cards? Normally I would think that you should wait until the end of the season for the updated stats, but I noticed that when I clicked that button, all of my player's all-star cards were wiped out.

Is this telling me that the best time to generate cards is on opening day? What do you guys do?

For me, never. It slows down sim time and clogs up the game files with what are, imo, unnecessary images.

That's a tough call because of the all star cards getting wiped. I'd been toying with creating cards at the end of each season for my entire RDL league, but this gives me pause.

Not wiped out, I believe. They'd be under each player's profile if you don't have players with the exact same names with cards made for them, if memory serves me correctly. Look there if you want to see All-Star Game and/or awards-related cards. Hope this information helps you. CD out.

They are definitely overwritten. It didn’t use to be like that if I’m remembering correctly so I dont know when it changed Before, all star cards would remain even after generating cards.

Oh you're referring to the team baseball cards tab then, it seems. I thought you were referring to the player profile cards. So it is true that they get replaced in terms of immediate visibility when you see all the team's active players on the team baseball cards screen, but not erased. I believe the last cards generated for the players in question, if any, show up on that screen, typically.

This has been the case since OOTP 18, as far as I know, but not sure about it being the case before that version came out. Simply because 18 is my first game from this series I've played a good deal of. Might have seen Season Ticket Baseball, and might have played it a bit, but not sure about that. 18 is the first version I know I've definitely played, though. CD out.

I apologize for not being clear. I was talking about the baseball cards tab AND the baseball cards section of a players profile.

When a player has an all star card from the current season and you generate all cards from the teams baseball cards tab, the all star card does get overwritten. I have verified that by checking the cards section of the player profile. It will show all the player’s cards but that season’s all star card will be missing.

I have since decided to generate the first day of spring training. I will then be able to get cards for all my players on the 40-man with their ML uniform. It seems more realistic too. If I bought an 2021 mike trout card and he was traded to another team, the card would have been produced well before then and would have him in an Angels uniform. I guess I’ve answered my own question

I do it only for the All-Stars on selection day.
