Interesting Line
Currently, I'm 8 games into my season with the Texas Rangers and thought this was an interesting line.
Palmeiro has played 8 games hitting 3 homers. He's hitting 5 for 22 in those 8 games for an average of .227. However, he has also walked 11 times (or 1/3 of his plate appearances) for an OBP of .485, and he's slugging .682. That leads a 1.167 OPS which is currently 20th in the league. I don't think I'd seen anyone with that high of an OPS, yet that low of a batting average, and especially an OBP near .500, yet hitting closer to .200. |

How many times has he struck out?
1.167 is 20th? Must be a lot of hot starts in your league. |

1 of those 5 hits is a double. Also, game 2 of the season, he didn't have a single at bat, walked all 5 times he appeared at the plate. He got his first hit on opening day, then took 4 days to get another. Started off 1 for his first 12, and 2 for 15, did have 9 of those walks in his first 5 games when he only had 1 hit. BTW, I don't think that many hot starts should be unexpected. 8 games into the season, lots of possibilities. Jim Edmonds leads with a 1.647 in 34 plate appearances. Has a 1.000 slugging with only 1 homer. 9 doubles, 14 total hits in 26 AB, with 8 walks. He's pretty well leading everything. Edmonds is just a monster right now, with a 40.5 RC27. One thing I can say about Palmeiro, thankfully Markus hasn't instituted a Shift defensive option yet Also, it is the whole MLB I meant, not just the AL.

Jack Cust will do this a lot... batting about .227 with a .450+ OBP. Here's got a fair in avoiding K's and a Brilliant in drawing BBs.
