Perpetually Injured

Maybe it's because I prevented WWII. Bob Feller would've in the service in 1942. He was (and still is) listed as "Fragile." On 4/28 an injury sidelined him for six weeks. 6/23, a DTD injury. 7/16, DTD for six days. 7/21, misses six days. 8/1, out for four weeks. Sent him to rehab. The docs sent him back after 28 days. Bob pitched two games in the World Series and was beaten senseless in both games. Spring training 1943: 3/22, pitched 0.2 inning, then injured for three weeks. In Bob's very next appearance after returning from that injury on 4/11, he tosses 0.1 inning in relief before yet another injury that will take him out for 6-7 weeks. Except for one back injury (one of the six day DTDs), everything else was an arm injury. My trainer is Legendary in both healing arms and preventing arm injuries. Having back luck with the RNG is one thing. This is insane. I'm wide open to answers, theories, evidence that my trainer took bribes. Thanks in advance.

Play fictional. It's impossible not to put way too many expectations into names you know. Mine was Joe Dimaggio as a reserve LF on the Phillies.

I agree. I went fictional and have never looked back. It gets rid of so many irking things about this simulator.

Fragile, elite starting pitchers, whether in a historical league or a future league are WORTHLESS!!! They NEVER hold up. I now automatically trade 3+ star starting pitchers once they become fragile.

Your answers were more depressing than I thought they'd be. You'd hope that a guy who threw 343 innings the year before his enlistment and 371 his first year back wouldn't be fragile. Silly me.

Thank you very much for your advise.

One thing you could try is 5 year recalc. Use 5 year recalc and when you set your league up, edit your make bad settings to 154/67 for batters and 17/14 for pitchers.

there is one hint i get at least for me if a player starts to get the injured but able to play at least twice it means he would be a bust the following season. Havent gotten pattern down yet for how many years after the injury filled season he plays till injured again. However i am at this point suspecting 2 to 3 seasons before he gets worse injuries

While it probably wouldn't work as well in the 1940s because of the lack of strong bullpens, one thing that I have had success with in the modern era is to sign broken-down, fragile pitchers for next to nothing and never pitch them more than two times through the order. If you keep them from having very high pitch counts, they can sometimes go a couple of seasons in a row without getting injured.
