Amateur Tournaments

Hello,

I was recently playing around with adding more international play into my game save. I see in Create A Tournament, the Olympics are included as a template. This got me to thinking it might be cool to add the Olympics into the game as an amateur contest, as it is in real life. I wanted to see if this was feasible. I do not have high school or college feeder leagues, however there seem to be plenty of players in the draft pools of the professional leagues I have activated for the save. I also see that I can select only HS and/or College players to be eligible to participate in my tournament. So what I hope would happen would be that if I created an Olympic tournament, the nations included would pull players from the draft pools that are available in their countries. Can anyone confirm if that is the case? And if a country does not have a draft pool, does the game create ghost players with appropriate talent levels for their age? Thanks for any info.

I can’t confirm as I’ve never tried it, but test it out. All you’d need to do is copy you save file. Or set your auto save option to a year and then kill the process after the test if you don’t like it

Yeah, I figured if I didn't hear back I would. I've been stuck at work all day. Figured if anyone had done it before it'd save me the time. I'll probably do it tonight and see. I could also just start a new game as unemployed and sim long enough to get the draft pools populated. Will post answer in case anyone in the future has same question.

Welp, gave it a shot. Players in draft pool do not appear for selection. In a league with no high school or college leagues, this means no players to choose from. Worse yet, the ghost players who are generated are mostly all much older than college age. All the AI run teams are also filled with old ghost players. So sadly this concept doesn't seem doable unless you're running school feeder leagues. Shame because it's a fun idea. But I guess a pretty niche one.

sadly this is basically what a lot of OOTP is at this point. decent ideas that are at 50% execution in the game as the developers do not put effort into the core game anymore
