What Internet Do You Use?
Currently i am using Xfinity in the Chicago NW burbs but i am moving to near Kankakee in July and Xfnity is not available. Looks like most hardwire cable is not available there. Looking at Verizon. Just seeing what alternatives there are and if you are happy with what you have.

Using T-Mobile wireless. I have 5G coverage but inside under a metal roof so I don’t get the full benefit of 5G speeds. But it still serves my purpose. Computer is fine and we have some streaming TV. But we don’t watch a lot of high graphic TV. Since I also use their phone service it is only $30 a month.live in a moderately remote area. Cable is here but I won’t pay the price

We use Xfinity cable, and for $40 bucks a month get relatively high speeds, decent reliability. I'm in an urban area, and the trend to working from home, Zoom calls, put added burden on our line. The Xfinity technician replaced it, claiming that squirrels had gnawed the old line and decreased its bandwidth [?]. Now we can stream TV and use Internet and do Zoom calls without noticeable slowdown. For years Xfinity and predecessors had a monopoly on cable here, thanks to the City. Now Verizon is installing fiber-optic cable, so hoping the price comes down. We also have a local wireless provider; but their signal is line-of-sight, and our receiver would be blocked.

I assume you are going to be outside of Kankakee or in the country somewhere? Otherwise, I have always had Xfinity in my houses/apartments throughout Bradley and Bourbonnais, and it should be available throughout Kankakee as well. |

I use T-Mobile 5G wireless. I'm getting good speeds, so no issues.

In my semi-retirement, we travel a lot. Always try to look for places to stay with dependable, high-speed, secure wifi connections. With Airbnb, for example, it's not hard to find, and the guest comments reflect if the system works. That enables me to keep pace with these forums, while of course playing the game and downloading any updates.
