Figment League Baseball - Fictional Stats Only League in a historical context

Figment League Baseball has one opening: the Washington Eagles.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that we are currently in the offseason between the 1932 & 33 seasons.

Figment is a stats-only league with fictional teams and fictional players. The league started with the 1876 season as part of a 50-season "pre-play" to generate history and create storylines.

As commissioner I do not run a team. This lets me be impartial and act as kind of a curator as well, filling in when a GM needs to be away or a team goes vacant (as is currently the case). The league itself is part of a fictional universe of several sports that is still being fleshed out.

Please check out http://legendsport.com if you're interested in learning more. Recaps of every season are there, so if you want to delve into the history of the league, it's all there as are the rules and a link to the HTML reports.

We have an excellent group of GMs who are active & knowledgeable but welcome anyone interested in playing - the only requirement is having OOTP 21 and willing to give it a modicum of your time & effort. Experience is optional.

We use Slack as well, so if you're unwilling to use it, that would make things extremely difficult as the bulk of communication occurs there.

If you're interested in learning more, please send me PM here. Feel free to post any questions as well.

We have a new opening in Figment League Baseball. The available team is the defending champion Cleveland Foresters.

Just to update the info in the post above - we are now in late May of 1935. The league will be upgrading to OOTP 22 (I just wanted to be upfront about that in case that's an issue for anyone), but will most likely do so in the offseason and depending on when the game releases that might be after the 1936 season.

We've had some issues with GMs being a little less active than ideal lately so I want to point out that we have a really good group of GMs who are invested and active and ideally our new GM would fit that mold. You don't have to be on Slack all day or write a dynasty thread about your team (which several of our GMs do), but we'd want someone who exports regularly and responds to trade inquiries (on Slack), takes part in the draft and so forth.

If that sounds like you, please reach out to me - and I will also gladly answer any questions you have if you're on the fence and want more information.

Thanks for checking out the Figment League!

I just wanted to say that this is one of the best--no check that, it is the best--league I've been a part of. The stats-only aspect adds a whole new dimension (who knows, that undrafted, minor league free agent just might become an all star).

Also Cleveland has Max Morris, who is Figment's career home run leader. He's at 669, so the watch is on to see if he can get to 700 before he retires.

I will echo that sentiment. This is a fantastic league with GMs who care about the whole league’s success and are a great group plus an incredibly dedicated commissioner who does not run a team in the league but has created a universe with a full back story that is constantly evolving and will be adding additional sports in the near future. There is no requirement to do a dynasty report or be as active as many of us are on slack or worry about any of the additional sports in this amazing universe but the option is there. Even if you just prefer to read what others are writing about their team or the league as a whole you will find it a very immersive experience and while stats only (no ratings) may seem daunting at first it makes every aspect of the league so much more interesting than seeing all the ratings.

Finally I will say Cleveland is a great team to takeover. Lots of talent beyond the legendary Max Morris, who is the Babe Ruth of our league.

Adding my two cents to the previous posts. Great active league.

To have a long time experienced OOTP Commissioner who doesn't even have a team in the league, who communicates all the time, who runs sims and league events on time, on schedule, 5 days a week is a bonus most leagues can't match.

Then there are the many dedicated GMs. We have all styles. The story writers, those who prefer to just read. Some who dive deep into the backstories and the feeders and those who prefer to concentrate on their major league teams. And all have different levels of success. It's a stats only league so there are many ways to win.

And why is out defending champ available? Because that very successful GM decided to take on the challenge of a neglected team that is old and needing a lot of help.

So just in with a good solid team. If you're new to stats only or online leagues, the group is more than helpful. No sharks here. Some of these guys pass along too much info.

All we ask is that you expert regularly, check in on slack to react to trade inquiries, be around to keep the draft moving in the off season. Then you'll be hooked.

Welcome.

First of all, I want to thank the guys who posted above - they (and the other GMs) are the biggest reason the league works as well as it does.

Having said that, the current opening has been filled. If you're interested and just missed out, please don't hesitate to send me a PM that you'd like to join - I'll make sure you're notified as soon as we have another opening.

Thanks again for checking out the league!
