2D Engine Discussion/Questions/Suggestions A single forum for posts about the new 2D match engine. so we can keep that better-organized. Bug reports should still go in the regular Technical Support/Bug Reports forum, but if you're not sure if something is a bug, either forum is fine. |

2D screen shuddering
I have been looking forward to the 2D gameplay. Unfortunately, my 2D display shudders, making it unwatchable, which cannot have been intended. I have an NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics card which easily handles much more complex graphics, so this shouldn't be an issue. I have set the game display mode to "Full Screen" and window size to "maximized". My general computer display setting is set to 2560X1440. Any advice?

Could you take a short video of what you're seeing with screentogif and post it? We've had a couple of people mention it doing this, but it'd be easier to figure out if we could see exactly what's happening on your screen.

I wasn't familiar with screentogif so I downloaded it and I did make a screen recording, but the file of the recording is 95k KB, which greatly exceeds your 512 KB file upload limit. Is there somewhere else I can upload a file of this size?

So I had this same issue and resolved it by making sure my screen resolution was matched to the screen resolution settings on the game options menu. I'm currently using 1920 x 1080 display resolution and the stuttering disappeared.

I have identified my issue with the shuddering 2D screen. I ran through all sorts of display resolution combinations (including the helpful suggestion to set both my main computer and game display resolutions to 1920x1080) but nothing worked until I moved my text size from 150% to 100%. Now it works fine with my native resolution of 2650X1440. My only issue now is the text size on my large screen monitor, which is miniscule, and the fact that I need to change text size whenever I start the game.
I hope this is helpful for others with this issue and perhaps it could be looked at. |

Yeah, moving to 100% should also resolve the issue if your display is synced up otherwise.

Thanks for figuring that out, guys, I was wondering why we were only seeing a few reports of it.

Same issue here. I'm running it on a Surface Pro 6. Have had no issues with the latest baseball game or many other graphic intense games. Is there a way to shrink that rink size? It is kind of large and would be nice to put stat boxes around it. The reduced size might help with the stuttering.
Also, will you be giving us the ability to coach either home/away in games? Historical and exhibition. This was brought up last year as well. We can only coach home teams. Update: I changed the resolution to Windowed and 1360x768 and it seems to be much better. The Surface Pro 6 runs a resolution of like 2500. Still would be nice to see a smaller rink to place stat boxes around it. Last edited by Steven547; 12-17-2020 at 12:55 AM. |

I don't think there is an option to change text size within the game itself (although you can change resolution in-game). I was referring to the option to change text size for your computer display generally. This can be done in your display settings screen (it pops up if you right click anywhere on your home screen). I like to bump it up to 150% since my eyes are getting older and I have a large display monitor. Reducing it back to 100% sorted my problem.

After the latest update, it brought back this lag in the 2D gameplay. Thought I had it fixed, but it's back. Ugh. Not playable with it so slow and laggy.

Try switching back to the resolution you were originally using before going to 1360x768 Windowed. Does that make a difference?

No luck. It's still very laggy and extremely slow. I tried maximize an a few other resolutions. Just doesn't seem to work.
A player skating from the blue line to the red line took 6-8 seconds to go that short of a distance. From blue line to blue line (one on one) was 11 seconds, which is very very slow. I might be in the minority here, but not a fan of the whole screen being the 2D rink. I think if it was smaller it would experience less lag and allow us to see the stats. Kind of lost on what to do here. I'm using a Surface Pro 6 with an i7 and 16gb ram. I just put WWE2k15 on my machine and it runs pretty well including the crowd. So must be something interfering with the performance. Update: Uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Setting went to the 1400 resolution. Game is still choppy and player skate speed is very slow. OK, I think we've finally found a fix for the shaking, we'll probably be including that and a couple of other things in a hotfix update very soon.
