Junior Level Observation

Started a QMJHL game today.

Signed a 19YO Free Agent, hit shop player, was able to trade for Jordan Spence and received muiltiple offers for a 1st round pick.

Jordan I can sort of understand, hes also 19 and the logic likely recognizes him as professional bound while this 19YO FA will likely be back as a 20, where as the 1sts are a little much.

It's definitely hard to get everything right and perfect but just thought I would bring it up! Love the game and I plan on doing a review for it soon.

I am pretty certain that CHL teams are not allowed to trade their first round picks.

OHL teams can't trade draft picks but the Q and WHL can. Not sure about the other two but also in the OHL each guy that was a first round pick when he was selected gets a no trade clause he has to wave if traded. Makes the league have more parody and you don't get as much of the major tank jobs.

Also have to dress a minimum of two 16yo players so can't load up on 19yo for years on playoff runs. I'm a fan of it.

I have been playing the WHL fairly extensively since FHM6 and currently have the following self-imposed rules, note that the game doesn't prevent you doing these:

1st round draft picks in either draft cannot be traded.

The rights to players selected in the 1st round of either draft cannot be traded. You can only try to 'acquire' those players once they have signed a WHL contract.

Any players (or their rights) who have signed an NHL contract cannot be traded.

Year 19 players, who will be overage after next July 1st, can only be traded or shopped prior to the trade deadline that season. No dumping them on to other teams that won't need them at season end.

Any players drafted in the June NHL draft cannot be traded prior to 1st September in same year.

Overage players cannot be shopped at any time.

No trades involving only picks on one side of the deal.

The AI is allowed to (and does) break these rules!

Despite these rules I still win most of the time!
