Pitchers in Minors
Is it advantageous to have proper pitching staffs in your minor leagues? For example, sometimes when I let the AI do its thing, I'll have a Rookie League with basically all relievers. And they are always "gassed" (like red fatigue), I'm guessing because they have to pitch more innings than their stamina can hold.
A few follow up questions- 1) Would that then be a way to "increase" their stamina? Just like playing a guy at SS will get his experience at that position better? 2) Would the negatively affected stats they have (i.e. from having to pitch while gassed with red fatigue) then also drive down their development? For example, they're not in a position to succeed when blowing up their ERAs due to the team not having starting pitching. Which takes me back to my original question. |

I obsess over my minor league and can't tell you if it really matters because it takes me months to get through a single season. I "think" it helps me because I'm tracking each guy and know who I want to promote but since it takes so long for me I don't have enough evidence to support.
Now in my fast sim I just set pitch limits and let it ride and only promote based on ratings and green arrows. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

If pitching while tired or exhausted, that should increase injury risk. But I think the battery symbol is just about how much stamina they have left before becoming tired, so it's not a problem if they just pitched the game before and are tired. It's only a problem if they are expected to pitch again the following game. I doubt it affects development though, except for the effect of injuries.
I think the AI promotes at least 5 players with enough stamina to be starters (at least according to the game, which requires 25/100 stamina, I think). But then all the other relievers can be low stamina, especially if they are better suited to the league level than any higher stamina guys you might have. If the AI is controlling promotions for you, you could help keep the bullpen fresh by setting the team strategy to be very slow to pull starters and relievers. That way, your starters will pitch to the pitch count even if they get into trouble, eating up more innings. And relievers have difficulty pitching multiple games in a row even if it was a few pitches only, so you seem to get more pitches out of them overall by pitching them until they are tired and then giving full days of rest. Pulling them out slower helps achieve this. |
