West Coast Baseball League - Historic Player league - Needs 2 solid GM's

The league is set in 1946 - It is set on the west coast (MLB does not exist in this scenerio)

It is broken into two leagues- The California League and Transcontinental League

The leagues are broken down into 2 divisions each - The entire rundown of the league philosophy and rules can be found below

We are about a month into the inagural season and have a solid core of GM's - Just need to find a couple more that are willing to stick with it - I know there are alot of leagues out there and a lot looking for GM's - This league is just two bodies from being full -

We need to fill Ogden and San Francisco

League is on Slack for communications,
We have Statsplus for league information :

https://atl-02.statsplus.net/wcbl/

We have a news service that GM;s may post news to - It automatically gets posted in Slack under team news - no requirement to write but you may if you like

We are just looking for 2 solid GM's to fill the holes

Rules overview below...... PM if interested

The starting year is 1946

I have erased all players (with few exceptions) that had more than 5 years of service time and included players from both the negro American and National Leagues (whose players I did not erase). This left players like Warren Spahn and Charlie Kelleher alongside Josh Gibson and Satchel Paige..

The concept for this action was to eliminate many of the older well established stars and leave many unknown and some known minor leaguers to fill the league.

I have them erased all the service time and records for the entire league, so that all records that are set are set by these players not including any historic past players.

Now the questions and hopefully the answers to those questions:

1. This is not meant to be a replay league. Players are not guaranteed to perform as they may have in actual history.

2. The reason for erasing the seasoned players is that this league will be looking to recreate history without the help of the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees... “ “ but wait you said that Warren Spahn is in the league he was a great historic player - doesn’t that go against the concept of star players” - No the league is not against historic star players but instead it is started in a space in time BEFORE these players became stars. As the limit was 4 years or less most of these players were still toiling in the minors at this point. And several may have nmissed season due to WWII - which means they got in due to lack of MLB time prior to 1946

3. Doing number 2 above makes the possibility of a unique history, since all minor leaguers were dumped into the same draft pool this will allow some players that may have never made it to the big leagues to play and develop alongside with players that were known to be stars... but in this case the stars may fail and the unknowns become stars. It creates its own history.

4. Players will enter the draft as they would have going forward from 1946 but in this league the color barrier has been turned off so it will open up the possibility of more diverse group of players.

A few rules, and thoughts that will dictate the league...

This will be a form of historic league, it will include historical players starting in 1946 - Several of these players may be unknown by many, but they are in fact real players. We will progress towards the present.... THERE WILL NOT BE ANY MIKE TROUT’S or BRYCE HARPERS for quite some time.....keep this in mind when considering this league, these are old guys please don’t sign up and then realize you only know like 5 guys and then want to quit....

1. The sim frequency is 3 days a week (M W F) it will be a week at a time per sim. Please understand that is the schedule, that may be to slow for some - so do not ask about the league if this is not a schedule that appeals to you.

2. League activity... been a part of several leagues and have found the difference between the good and bad is owner participation. This is easy to say and it always comes back that the commissioner should do more to enhance activity.... This is just dead wrong, the commissioner can not do anymore to spur activity if the owners have no interest in doing so.... So I leave that up to GM’s - if you want to have an active league, be active otherwise it becomes a very subdued league which for some may be fine, but that is the biggest issue..... The commissioner will do what he can but if GM’s don’t participate it will never be active league.

3. Exports and league interest, the league takes time to run and maintain as well as to pay for the hosting. None of these are the concern of the GM’s but what is of concern is the GM’s doing there job : running your team. The league can take as little as 15 minutes a week. After sims check results, reset lineups if needed and export. That is all and this is where things fall apart, GM’s put teams in auto-pilot and don’t stay involved. Therefore all GM’s are required to export a minimum of twice a week PERIOD. There will be no allowance for missing multiple sims. If you cannot do this do not apply.

4. The league will use Stats-Plus... Dave is an awesome guy and what he provides is what we would need for hosting.

5. Slack will be used for all league communications. it is easy to set up and easy to use - All managers would need to have it and use it.

6. See #3 & 5 - Much like the export concept the same holds true for Slack, answer messages, check-in and stay involved- long periods of being away will lead to assumption of no interest.

7. Most important of all - this is meant to be fun and competitive, it is not meant to be stressful or regimented. We all have lives and things happen (they just do) so it is understood. But everyone needs to be honest, if you cannot commit do not bother. An open team is better than a team claimed and then GM ghosts the league.

8. I am open to thoughts and suggestions to make the experience better for all. But all suggested changes to the league will require a majority vote.

GAME SETTINGS: (General - If you have a question - please ask)

Scouting is on - set to Normal
Ratings will be 20-80
Overall & Potential on - 20-80
Coaching will be off

Finances are on.. and are what the game provides..

Each team will have a 25 man roster

Each team will also have an affiliated minor league team with 25 man roster

Due to the era the reserve clause rule is in place. This means that all players are signed to the teams they are on for their entire career unless they are released or traded. Since this means all players will automatically have contracts renewed it creates two opposite effects.

The first effect is it makes the idea of dealing with contracts and finances somewhat irrelevant- this makes trading and player movements much harder. But it also creates the change for a GM to build a team and not have to worry about contracts and demands forcing sales. Agin this could effect the leagues trading activity - BUT SHOULD NOT AFFECT THE OVERALL LEAGUE ACTIVITY.

Very active group of Gms... low maintenance as only AAA levels and reserve clause era... easy to manage versus the FAs era as today. You can sign Fa from a pool or if a player is released. In that aspect draft become even more important but you get the player forever if you wish like in the old days where players stay with the same team for the entire career.
