Played with this a bit. Lots of possibilities but at the moment I'm going with a simple baseball image. the color of the seams and ball shading seems to change based on team colors...but I can't figure out how to control it. Weird.

Here's that Jersey file colored so it remains white...the number will show up as one of the team's colors (forget if it was font color or team color)...jersey stripe will be the other team color. rename it to retired_number, copy it to your images folder in the appropriate skin directory, delete skin.bin, and you are set.

In your \data\skins\ootp classic\images directory (assuming you are using the classic skin, otherwise it'll be in ootp dark or ootp light) you'll find a file called retired_number.png. Replace it with the one you want. Then go back up to D:\OOTP21\data\skins\ootp classic again and you should see the skin.bin file. Delete that, start up OOTP21, and the game should rebuild the skin.bin file using your new image. let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry. Not familiar with mac OS directory structure. Ping Ty Cobb...he posted a few days ago about modifying skins on a MAC so he may be able to walk you through it.
