New league with historical players...
Good day all.
i want to start a league (online) that will have 7 teams but we want players from a historical year (1985 MLB). I know how to change the design of the league, but it seems to default to fictional players, or play with all the teams. Any help is appreciated. |

I've found the best way to do that is to create a historical league using a starting year as the year desired (1985) - and then change the league structure, deleting the teams you don't want, or creating 7 new teams, and deleting the (26) existing teams. Note that if you create new teams, I suggest making sure to use team abbreviations that are different from the current MLB teams.
I assume you want an inaugural draft? If so, this should work. Don't create a fictional league |

Thanks for the reply..appreciate it.
When I start a historical league, I cannot edit the structure (or teams). Message is: Cannot be edited because it's a standard or historical league. ..I should clarify that I want MLB players starting in '85, not fictional players. |

What I did, when I wanted to use the 1994 player base was:
Create a 1994 historical league. Deleted all the lower leagues I did not want, in my case, below AA. Cleared all Free Agents (don't know that this was necessary.) Created the new league structure that I wanted. I moved existing teams from MLB and AAA, but I also could have created teams from scratch. Deleted original historical league. Released all players for an inaugural draft.

Also, create the game, and then edit the structure (instead of attempting to edit the structure during the league creation wizard). |
