I think it's a puzzle and if you decode it his name is actually something really pedestrian.

Like, Dave.

I made sure to tell my scouts: you can give me anyone you want to draft but his name must have at least one upper case letter, lower case letter, number and symbol.

Bad jokes aside, I am pretty sure there's a special character there that's borked somehow. And I know in the past I had some problems with a Spanish character, the lower-case N with the wavy bit on top (and his actual given name is Inaki).

Nope, I have NO idea what the letter is actually called. Mi Espanol es no bueno.

If the game can't handle "ņ" that's a problem

It's pronounced "EN-yeh". Like you and your umlauts should be complaining!

I'm guessing that's a glottal stop? A'taki? Maybe an African name, I don't think the Pacific Islander stops go between vowels and consonants.

A hui hou!

This should probably be reported in Bug Reports forum.

Curious where the player is from

Aņaki is, apparently, Quechua word meaning "bacteria"

Iņaki is a Basque name

I am so making a player named Aņaki Iņaki in my next fictional league!

From my 2025 amateur draft:

"I'm not a number, I'm a person."

"No, you are a number."

Also amusing is that Miami changed its name to the Roughnecks the season before last, but their GCL team is still called the Marlins.

Front offices talk about "building the perfect baseball player," and now it looks like one escaped from the lab, is all.

Seems entirely on-brand for Miami "major league" baseball!

The wavy bit is called a tilde. It exists as a separate character '~'.

In words it's pronounced broadly like the the "ni" in "onion".
