Opener while using 7 day lineups

Set up an opener and 7 day lineups. I set the guy I wanted to open, and he did. However, the follower did not come in, even though he was set as the follower and it was his turn in the rotation.Set to strict order. Instead it turned into a bullpen game. This is in an online league. Any idea on what to do?

There are probably better people to answer this as I don't use 7-Day Lineups and haven't messed around much with Openers. However, I'll take a shot.

I *think* the game wants you to leave the "Follower" as the "Starter" when it comes to the actual lineup.

The AI logic is to look at the starter and see that he is labeled as a "follower". It then looks to see if there is an available "Opener" that is rested. If there is, the Opener will start the game and the follower will come in after. If there is no rested Opener than the "Starter" starts.

That is the way things work when *Not* using 7-day lineups at least so it would make sense to me that it would go that way with the 7-day lineups as well.

Depending on when the game is within your week you could also bench the Opener for a day or two to make sure that he is available.

Okay. I will try that for the upcoming sim. I did make sure to bench one of the two guys I had set as opener to make sure he would be able to pitch (the guy I put as the starter in 7 day lineups).

I'm likely misreading the bold but if he's benched the 7 day won't fix it. He wasn't benched day of game right?

No, sorry. The guy I had set to open was benched up until the day he was set to pitch to make sure he wasn't used in relief prior to that outing
