Tournaments

So fooling around today with the new tournaments and I am super confused.

One - The amount of tournaments in quick play now are just ridiculous. Why do we need to have so many? Isn't that going to fracture a play base to much?

Two - I know I don't have enough players to field teams for these types of tournaments and looking over the discord, it doesn't seem that there are full teams either. Were changes like this really needed?

Three - If we are going to have this many tournaments to choose from, we need more slots then 3. I'm sorry, but when you have this many options to choose from, why limit me to only 3. More slots will help with comment one I made.

I really wish the changes to tournaments were concerning the amount of certain types of players you could use on a roster (Like your roster needs to have 4 rookie sensations on it or 4 diamonds of your choosing or 3 live golds...etc etc). Maybe we will get that one day haha.

Bottom line and the most important for me, it's too much. The screen looks like too "busy" when you first look at tournaments and thank god for filters, but even then, some of the filters have no tournaments associated with them. New players getting the game now might be overwhelmed by the screens.

I really don't understand the changes to Bo3 bronze/silver/gold tournies.

These were extremely popular, filled quickly, and as such, were the best option for F2P players looking to grind out some meager profits (meager compared to collection speculation and things of that nature).

What gives? Did I win too many?

If I running the show and this plan was coming out...

Left all the quick/daily tournaments alone or tweaked the cap numbers.

All these new tournaments with these settings would be weekly tournaments with cap numbers. Gives teams a chance to acquire players in the AH to fill their rosters.

Right now, only teams getting rewards for these tournaments are whales or ppl who have killed the AH. I can't imagine a lot of players saying, "I want to own every hardware hero in the game" when they play.

yep totally agree. If people want new stuff, great. I'm in favor of more options...but you can do it without killing existing (popular) formats that folks are relying on for their main source of income.

And are there any assurances the new tourneys will stay this way for a period of time that would allow us to recoup investments in new players?

Some more info on that would go a long way. I am really hesitant to spend a bunch to rebuild my rosters when things could just change again soon.

Thankfully I do mostly bronze, so I have already almost made back my investment, but I can see it being an issue for people who grind gold.

Just bought a bronze team. Cost me about 6.0k. I would have needed to buy 16 gold players to field a gold team.

Yeah, as a FTPer, it took me several weeks of grinding tournaments to raise the couple hundred thousand PP needed to build my gold team. Losing the Gold Bo3 hurts, as I made a nice amount of PP from it, and I just can't justify spending tons of PP to build a 1980-1992 team just for Bo3 tournaments. At least there are still the Bo7, Non-Live Bo5, and Gold & Historicals RRF3--for now.

All aboard the bronze defense train!! Got a couple wins already.

What do I do with my gold team though? Sell it off? It's currently useless...but I'm scared they might change something again in a couple weeks...

yeah, probably a good idea. There is still the jackpot and a few other things. Generally my gold team is more optimized for short series and doesn't do super well in the big tourneys. But I can tweak that

Just a couple players to add depth, and you will be good. I have picked up a lot on daily tournaments.

I'm doing okay in the Bronze Bo3s (at one point one of my teams won 3 in a row), but I suspect it's just because people haven't figured out the meta yet. I definitely haven't.

HaHa. First new Bronze-Defense-Bo3, I wasn't aware of what the new format was exactly, and I wasn't aware of the tournament needing the game update to setup properly. I entered my normal Bronze Bo3 team, and didn't get any msgs to the contrary when I submitted my team. When I checked my team's progress, my roster was all screwed up, and I had 2 blank spots in my starting lineup, with a catcher filling the centerfield role and a lowly 40-something iron playing another starting position.
Obviously, others did the same thing I did, In the 2nd round, I beat a team in one of the games 27-1, with 6 J.Unknowns in the starting lineup and a bullpen full of them. My team was a little better than many, cause I don't rely on live cards except a few with high-rated attributes in defense, power, or contact for position players, and a combination of high ratings for pitchers, plus I had 150+ players on my reserve roster overall, and several happened to be the right era, even if there were a few iron cards of the era mixed in from recently opened packs.
I installed the new patch, and the team won the tournament !!
So surprised was I, that I was almost drooling as I adjusted my roster to fit the tournament parameters, but I guess I was just lucky that first time, as I've only one tournament of that type since.
Easy come, easy go.

Really dumb question...is there a bot that can be used to enter tournaments? Just the way our life schedules happen to work, my buddy plays most of the day and I play most of the night. We noticed there is a team that is literally always in a tournament. Its been about 72 straight hours. Any chance they have a bot that signs them into tournaments when they have an open slot?
