Players without a team?

I started a historical league in 1903 with random debuts.

A couple years in I noticed star players (4-5 stars) without a team. This is reserve-clause rules and they are not available as free agents or through the draft. They also have no history in their profile.

I'm assuming I have a setting wrong. Screenshot is attached (ex. Stargell, Judge, Leonard). Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

This happened in my league in the mid-20s. I drafted some players and they signed to minor league contracts and went into limbo.
