"Run computer manager on all teams"

Hi guys,

Just picked up OOTP5 today (can't beat that 25% discount!) and while going through the myriad of options in League Setup, I saw an option to "Run computer manager on all (computer-controlled) teams". What's the difference between running this and setting all teams to Computer ownership initially?

Thanks,

Gabe

I believe you only need to do this if you start a league with an initial draft. Otherwise, making teams computer owned will do the trick.

The Run computer manager button is good after an initial draft to set all depth and lineups at once.

It also is good if you have a human controlled team that you need to have the computer set everything for one time rather than on an ongoing basis.

In this case, you would switch the team to computer control, run computer manager on all teams and then switch the team back to human control.

You can think of computer ownership as if it's running computer manager on that team on a daily basis. If you just have teams that are to be set to computer ownership for the duration of the league, I can't think of any reason that you would want to Run Computer Manager at any point.

Don't use it if you want 3-man rotations. Even if you have 3-man rotations set in the era settings, it will give you a 4 or 5-man rotation if you run it.

As long as you have the correct rotation size set on each team's pitching staff then it will correctly set the rotation regardless of what the "era settings" are. I usually use a 3-man rotation when I sim 1901-1903 but I set Detroit & Washington to 4/5 man rotations since they have some pretty terrible pitchers and this will prevent the "255 overrun" problem. Using 'run computer manager on all teams' works fine even in this scenario. The 14 teams with 3-man rotations are fine and Washington has the proper 4-man rotation and Detriot is set with a 5-man rotation.
