My Corsairs have been doing pretty good after their drop from Gold, they were in 1st in their division before play started today by a game and a half.
Subway Rats and Elitist Scum got off to jaw-droppingly awful starts after relegation, the Rats have recovered to three games under .500 and the Scum are still stinking up the place. Need to keep them out of the strip clubs... |

Breaking News!!! Diamond level is harder than Gold.
Ok, not just a little harder. The gap between gold and diamond makes the Grand Canyon look like a pothole. The Colonels made their first foray into diamond this week with dismal results so far. Record last week: 101-61 in gold Record this week: 27-56 in diamond Runs scored per game last week: 5.6 in gold Runs scored per game this week: 3.9 in diamond The players on my team are the same, but the other teams in the league don't look anything like mine. Were they handing out 100 Speaker cards to everybody and somehow I missed it? Fortunately, it appears certain that we will be relegated back to where we belong. Right now, we have the second-worst record and are 10 games below the relegation line. Sorry to all of the people that have been fattening their PP larder on my boys. You will have to find another patsy next week. |

My first foray into Perfect World is going better than I expected. There is a 50% chance that I will NOT lose 100 games. After starting 19-38, I managed 15-14 since then.

Speaking of Speaker, 31 out of 40 teams have him in Perfect League.

Not sure if we got extremely unlucky with the division or this is the state of all diamond leagues 1st place team is only in his 12th season but clearly seems to be whaling it up, 100 game winner in Diamond last season and team includes FOTF Gwynn and Brett, together with Speaker, Anson, Jackie et al 2nd place team has made multiple diamond playoff appearances, and had 90+ wins in Diamond 5 out of the last 6 season, he is 4 games over .500 (i am a combined 7-22 vs those teams) 3rd place team has been in Perfect League and appeared in multiple playoffs, he is 7 games under 500 (scarier is the AC Central which has 2 former double diamond level winners which i am a combined 2-8 against with 3 games to come) I am 45-50 against the rest of the league but 9-30 against just 4 teams, shows how your divisional matchups can skew your record, 5 games back from safety so I am presuming we are relegated I've started building towards being back in Gold, sold off some of my offensive players as we can apparently score runs, brought in the 100 Tom Seaver as his price is really good now that he isn't the best seaver available, also bought the 100 Lefty Gomez and the 98 Cy Young. Also bought FOTF Mike Schmidt and Christobal Torriente also got lucky with FOTF packs, had all of the iron bronze missions done already and one popped a 100 Jimmie Foxx

No true Pennant races in the D363. All the NC 1st place teams are stacked and in cruise control until tomorrow. Seawolves in the thick of the wildcard race.

I completed the Negro Leagues mission yesterday, so Jackie Robinson will be making his Colonels debut this morning. I plan to play Jackie at second base, but he might play shortstop for the rest of this season. I took advantage of the Twins FotF frenzy and sold that bum Cronin while I had the chance to recoup my investment. Cronin's replacement will be coming on board this weekend, or I will resort to Chapman or Turner there until I can land the player that I want. I need to build up the pitching staff before I come back to diamond again. The cards that Marleigh picked up would all help me. The points sale came at a good time. |

I was up in diamond last week. Got dropped into a division with 3 110 game winners and now I'm back in gold.

The Raccoons narrowly (2 games) survived the relegation tussle in Gold for no greater good; the Mets were less lucky - they managed to post a 70-92 record with NOTHING going right for them ... and they'll be dumped into IRON, and it wasn't even close.
Theme teams - dead. Slain by OOTPD. Thx guys. I did however uncle-scrooge enough points away the last few WEEKS to allow me to grab overnight that SE Tom Seaver I fancied so much. He'll join our vaunted IRON rotation. Yes, still unhappy. Probably will be for a while yet.

Because I'm on a bit of a downer with PT21 at present I checked out my OOTP20 teams yesterday, much more variance in players used. Lower contact, higher power players could hit .260 with 25-30 homers and be effective.
Pitchers could actually pitch because players didn't have hyperinflated batting ratings. Some live players were actually still somewhat useable in PL. most SE cards were more reasonably priced and available because they were available as part of missions rather than from tournaments. Honestly other than the UI improvements made PT20 is superior to 21 imo i packed Mordecai Brown early in my PT20 career, he's gone on to be part of 38 playoff appearances and 3 titles while winning 742 games with a 3,27 era. In PT21 his 81 stuff 89 mov 82 control is worse than SE Maddux by some distance yet Maddux will never post anywhere the numbers that Brown put up in last years version

This makes me feel very conflicted about my upcoming Gold Level Playoffs. I was prepared to be abysmal, as my last foray saw me going 49-113. However, I did have 6 straight playoff appearances in Silver League since then, including a championship last year that saw me promoted. 4 of those being wildcards and a bit of bad luck can see you stuck at a level for a while. However, I outperformed expectations with 93 wins and a home wild card game coming up. However, a deep run could leave me being that pasty next year. They should have fun against my lineup with no perfects, 3 golds in the bullpen, 3 in the lineup, and two more on the bench. |

Evaluations are on hold since we are taking my wife out for her 39th birthday, 5th edition. (Figure that one out) All three teams will be upgraded in the next 24 hours but this season is...well, something.
Longview Woodchucks finished 83-80, losing a play-in game for the wild card slot. Decent numbers for the most part. Chris Sale nearly is a 20-game winner. Perhaps 23.5K points will get me at least a few diamond players, including a better closer (Mesa went 2-7, 4.33 ERA). Staying IRON for season 20. Nacogdoches Jacks did better, 93-70, losing the playoff for the division crown. But at least they are in the playoffs. Better than average in most everything. Playoff rotation is set. We will see what happened when I get back. Should go back to IRON, but we shall see. 56K points will definitely help with further upgrades. Stephanie's Neffin-neffs dead last in division at 73-89, and will be relegated back to IRON...good bats can not overcome horrendous pitching. Starters were bad, bullpen was worse. Edwin Diaz as closer...2-8, over 5 ERA. 34.6K points to work with...hmmm.... Anyhoo...249-249 for all three teams. Seems we're playing level. Now to see what the update does for me. See you all in Season 20.

I'm sorry, but all the lifeboats are full of Colonels, Woodchucks, Jacks and Neffin-neffs...and they are getting away from the sinking ship fast.

Paragon City Heroes 64-98 back to gold, plusses Edd Roush brought in to train at RF managed an .876 OPS. John Olerud impressed with an .835 OPS. Alomar and Honus were both around .800 OPS and 3.1 WAR. No one on the pitching staff deserves to be around next year (but they will be, replacements are expensive)
Bad News Barnstormers 91-71 winning a WC spot in silver 274. A weird amalgam of Negro Leaguers, 70s rejects from my failed theme team and a few SEs because they were cheap and i needed cheap players after building Jackie. Obviously number 42 stole the show slashing .324/.419/.520 with 43 2b, 45 Steals and 119 runs, Monte Irvin put up some big numbers and Willard Brown went 20/20. Phil Niekro led the league in wins, the bullpen just about hung on (update we lost the WC game 2-0 with Steve Carlton 3 hitting us, more time at silver is good ) Lowdown Lugnuts 63-99 back to gold, hardly unsurprising., we are still using bronze Ozzie, and silver George Wright, along with Darin Erstad, and a very gold bullpen and bench

The Manatees finally picked up their first championship, taking the Gold 325 league with a 6 game win over the NY Excaliburs.
The Iron Manatees choked a division lead away in the last week of the season, and missed the playoffs by a game. The Mets played, well, like the Mets in Diamond, and will be joining the ranks of the Gold tomorrow morning.
