Swedish Baseball League
Hello and welcome to my reports from the Swedish Baseball League. Let me first give you a brief introduction about the setup:
I've completely remade the Swedish namefile to give realistic Swedish names. I used the Swedish statistical bureau's name search function to get good ratios, unfortunately you have to search for every name individually there or get a top 100, So I had to collect the names from a lot of other sources, and then go through them individually to get a good ratio. I think I got most of the common first names in, missing are mostly the double-names, for the surnames it's a lot more complicated, since there are so many of them. This had of course led to the names that are actually in the file are being used a bit more often than they should. But it's a vast improvement over the original Swedish namefile, which might sound good for anyone not Swedish. But for me a Swedish league was unplayable with all the silly sounding names. The league will start in 1900, I will quicksim a year at a time, and then write a recap of the season that have passed. I will continue to do so up until 2007 where I think I'll take control of one team and release all players and hold a fantasy draft, but that's still undecided. The league will have the same settings throughout the years, both when it comes to finances and the other modifiers. So comparison between the years is easy. The league in itself is an 8 team league, divided in 2 subleagues (Allsvenskan and Elitserien) of 4 teams. Elitserien is having the DH-rule while Allsvenskan do not. The schedule is a 112 games schedule where there are 5 games per week, with Mondays and Thursdays being off days for all teams. Each team play against a team in their league in a Friday to Sunday series, and then on Tuesday and Wednesday they are playing a 2 game series against a team from the other league. The exception to this are the All-Star week, where there is no interleague play but the All-Star game on the Wednesday, and the last week where there is a Monday to Wednesday series against the own league, to ensure that you play each opponent an equal amount of time. Both the inner-league and inter-league schedule is setup so you play opponents in the order A-B-C-C-B-A and then start over with A again, alternating between home and away. In the end the two leagues champions face off in a best of 7 championship series. There is 2 minor leagues (2nd division (AAA) and 3rd division (AA)) both set up after the same format, but with a best of 5 championship series. There are 25% foreigners in the league with most representation from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, The Netherlands and the United States. But also with prominent representation from Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, England, Estonia, France, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland and Puerto Rico. A lot of other nations are also represented but at a smaller level tough. There is however a restriction to 5 foreigners on the active 25-man roster, with at most 3 pitchers. And since there are 25% foreigners in the league, the teams have to be carefull, or they have to send good players to the minors, just becouse they are of the wrong nationality. Most settings are left at default with the following exceptions, secondary roster is 35 man, HOF limits been lowered to fit a 112 games schedule, default is a 4 man rotation since there is (with the exception of the last week) never more than 3 games in a row without a rest day. And the Min. Nr of service for one year is lowered to 150 to fit with the league starting three weeks into April. Coming up next is a presentation of the teams in the league. |

In the 20th century road system, it was first called Riksettan (national highway no 1). It is currently called E4 and has been redirected to pass outside the city on the north side. Malmö
Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden, situated in the southernmost province of Scania. It has 272,634 inhabitants (about 605,000 in the metro area). Malmö was one of the earliest and most industrialized towns of Scandinavia, but has in recent decades been struggling with the adaptation to post-industrialism. The city contains many historic buildings and parks, and is also a popular place to shop due to its many different shops and stores. During the last few years a university college (Malmö Högskola) has been established and the city is now focusing extensively on education, arts and culture. The administrative entity for most of the city Malmö is the Malmö Municipality, referred to as Malmö Stad, or City of Malmö in English. Minor League Affiliates 2nd division: Helsingborg Helsingborg is located in the southernmost part of Sweden, called Skåne, and has a population of 101,600. It is the seat of Helsingborg Municipality, which has 122,000 inhabitants. Helsingborg Municipality is the ninth largest Municipality in Sweden due to its relatively small areal size. Helsingborg is the city center of about 300,000 people in the region. This effectively makes Helsingborg the fourth largest city in Sweden. Helsingborg is Sweden's closest point to Denmark, with the Danish city Elsinore (Helsingør) clearly visible on the other side of the strait of Öresund. Historic Helsingborg, with its many old houses, is a scenic coastal city. The buildings are a blend of old-style stone-built churches and a fortress (Kärnan) in the centre, and more modern commercial buildings. The streets vary from wide avenues to small alley-ways, too. Helsingborg has an elite football team, Helsingborgs IF. Their home stadium is Olympia. Henrik Larsson is the most famous of the club's players. 3rd division: Lund Lund is a city in Scania (Swedish: Skåne) in southern Sweden. The city is held to have been founded around 990, when the Scanian lands belonged to Denmark. It soon became the Christian center of Northern Europe with an archbishop and with the towering Lund Cathedral, built in 1103. It is the home of Lund University, Scandinavia's largest institution for education and research.[2] The city itself today has about 103.000 inhabitants not counting all temporary students. The Lund Municipality with 102 257[1] inhabitants includes several surrounding small towns and villages, particularly to the east. The municipality includes Dalby and the adjacent Dalby Söderskog national park.

Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, and consequently the site of its Government and Parliament as well as the residence of the Swedish head of state, King Carl XVI Gustaf. Stockholm has been Sweden's political and economic center since the 13th century.[1] Today it is the largest municipality of Sweden, with a population of 776,000, while the populations of the Stockholm urban area and Metropolitan Stockholm are roughly 1.2 and 1.9 million, respectively. With its location on the east coast of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, by the Stockholm archipelago, it is widely renowned for its beauty.[1] Minor League Affiliates 2nd division: Södertälje Södertälje Municipality is a municipality in Stockholm County, in central Sweden. Its seat is in the town of Södertälje with 81,122 inhabitants. It borders to the lake Mälaren in the north and the Baltic Sea in the south, and to the municipalities of Nykvarn and Salem. Of the total population, close to 20,000 are Assyrian immigrants arriving in this area since the late 1960s. 3rd division: Enköping Enköping Municipality is a Swedish municipality in Uppsala County, in east central Sweden. Seat in Enköping with 34,000 inhabitants. Enköping was once known for its cultivation of horseradish.

Örebro
Örebro is a Swedish city in Närke in central Sweden. It has 98,237 inhabitants (2005), with 128,689 inhabitants in the municipality. It is also the capital of Örebro County, encompassing 274,000 inhabitants. Örebro received its Royal Charter and city privileges at latest 1404. It was the capital of Närke, and for long its only city. Minor League Affiliates: 2nd division: Karlstad Karlstad Municipality (pop. 82,096) is a municipality in mid-western Sweden with the city Karlstad (population 58,055) as its seat. It was granted a Royal Charter in 1584. In the 17th century it was the seat of a diocese in the Church of Sweden. The city is home to Karlstad University and Karlstad Airport. Karlstad lies on the mainline railway connecting Oslo, Norway, and Stockholm. 3rd division: Östersund Östersund is a municipality in the middle of Sweden where the city Östersund is the seat and the municipality has population of 58,428[1]. Östersund is also the provincial capital of County of Jämtland. Thus, the province’s County Governor resides in the city. Due to the mock-independence movement that flourishes in Jämtland, many ethnic natives view the Governor as an "intrusive Swedish appointment", but even if the feelings towards the central governmental body in Stockholm are somewhat chilly due to the fact that the Social Democratic project Folkhemmet did not suit the situation in the mainly agricultural Jämtland, the independence movement is to be considered a humouristic hoax.[2] ![]() That was all the teams, next up we will look at some of the players who will make a big splash in the inaugural draft. |

I'm looking at the players rating on a 1-5 scale with SISA scouting, so I don't know much about the players.
One of the best hitters in the league has to be 1B Henrik Larsson, but his eye is terrible, and he is already 35 years of age, so I wouldn't expect to see him go first. Another very good hitter is 1B Paul Johansson, not quite as good contact hitter as Larsson but has better eye, but also he is coming to age at 32. We also have C Alvin Larsson, with a bit more power than the other two, he is 30 so not exactly what you would call a youngster, but could very well go as the first batter as the talent at the top isn't that good. Another 1st round candidate is Danish 3B Kai 'Schoolboy' Fog but he is 33 years of age. Another old candidate for the first round is 36 year old Finish C Hiski 'Cats' Ahonen. But my pick for the first batter to be chosen is 28 year old Dominican LF Roberto Trinidad With all this oldies, it's hard to predict, if we look at some of the younger players that might get into the first round thanks to their age is 26 year old CF Ingemar Dahlgren and 25 year old 3B Jan Rantanen Of the Pitchers I would like too look out for 28th year old Lithauian Trofimoff Fazleev. He is my man for the 1st overall pick. Another choise that might become the nr 1 pick is 20 year old Vojislav 'Slappy' Omeragic maybe not at Fazleev's level, but he has the age at his advantege. Other starters expected to go high is 33 year old Tobias 'Grit' Larsson, 28 year old Henrik 'Entertainer' Lind and 28 year old Alf Nielsen. Among the relivers I would like to hold out an eye for 32 year old Joachim 'Knight' Delin and 27 year old Andreas Eriksson to be drafted relativley high. |

Due to what I consider a bug in the game, I had to change the foreign players limit, to be 3 pitchers and 3 hitters, so total of 6 foreign player can be on each active roster.
The First-Year player draft are held on april 1st roughly three weeks before the season starts. I will for each year track the nr 9 pick overall (1st in the 2nd round) to get a bit more personal connection to some of the players. Here are the first 2 rounds and their potnetial acording to SISA 1 - Göteborg - SP Dan Dahlström, 21 years, 3/4/5 2 - Malmö - SP Lars 'Stringbean' Svensson, 22 years, 3/3/4 3 - Örebro - 1B Pedro Olivo (USA), 20 years, 5/4/4/5/1 4 - Umeå - SP Artyom Yafrakov (EST), 17 years, 2/3/4 5 - Uppsala - SP Cristo Ramírez (CRC), 21 years, 2/4/1 6 - Linköping - SP Joakim 'Headcase' Wahlgren, 20 years, 3/5/3 7 - Jönköping - 1B Lars Åman, 21 years, 4/4/5/1/2 8 - Stockholm - 2B Rolf Ericsson, 18 years, 4/5/5/-/1 9 - Göteborg - SP Adam Rudling, 22 years, 3/4/4 10 - Malmö - RF Kjell Johansson, 21 years, 2/1/3/2/2 (really fast guy though) 11 - Örebro - 1B Niklas Ringborg, 21 years, 4/3/2/4 12 - Luleå - C Pierre Grafström, 23 years, 2/4/4/2/2 13 - Uppsala - CF Du-sung Ton (KOR), 18 years, 5/4/1/1/3 14 - Linköping - LF Ivan Pettersson, 17 years, 3/5/3/3/3 15 - Jönköping - RF Stanislav Svetozar, 20 years, 5/5/1/2/5 16 - Stockholm - C José Molina (PUR), 20 years, 4/3/4/1/3 |

Allsvenskan 1900 saw two teams run away from the rest, Linköping and Umeå, the teams where almost equal in the spring totaly autclassing their opponets, at the end of may they were both at 20-10, but then Umeå had alosing June while Linköpin continued at 16-6. But then in July and August Linköping played 10-10 and 11-11 to allow Umeå to catch up. As we entered September Linköping where at 57-37 with Umeå 4 games back. Which remaind with 13 games remaining, but then Linköping went into "the zone" and won all the remaining 13 games while Umeå very much faded to go 4-9 over the same period to take a clear win in Allsvenskan at the end by 13 games.
One big contributing reason was that Linköping went 18-6 head to head against Umeå, Allsvenskan Standings Code:
