Tribune Field

Another Request - this one for Mrskippy. (do you think that means Mrs. Kippy or Mr. Skippy?) Mrskippy requested a park in fo the Oakland area named Oakland Tribune Field that would either be located in Jack London Square with a view of the bay or in downtown with a view of the Tribune building. Finding a suitable background picture for either was not easy. (Good pictures of San Francisco - 136, 000 or so. Good pictures of Oakland - not so many.) Anyway, I hope this suffices. The background is an actual picture of the downtown skyline and mountains in Oakland shot from the vicinity of Jack London Square. The entrance to the square can be seen just below the Canadian flag. The Tribune building is just to the right of center field - if you squint. Most pictures of the bay had a boat in them that would have been the size of the Queen Mary once I edited the picture to the right size and perspective. No good shots of downtown, either. One or two buildings- but no cityscape that lent itself to my purposes. I hope this image is accepatable. It took days of browsing the web. I like it, anyway...

The park is not symetrical. There is a section of seats in right center that jut into the field of play. The alley in right center is then actually shorter than straight away right field. The walls are concrete and have been planted with ivy. This is an excellent park to tailgate at. There is a large parking area between Jack London Square and the stadium that is known for its festive pre-game and post-game celebrations. This park also leads its league in most fans coming to the game on motorcycles. Right field houses the team's executive offices, museum, gift shop and a number of eateries and bars in addition to corporate suites.

I am going to back off from the requests for a while. This is becoming a lot like work. I will still post stadiums as I make them, but want to keep this as a hobby.

Gorgeous.

Really, you should send this to HOK, the A's owners and the City of Oakland. This is excellent.

Thanks.
