Question about an odd Minor League Season

Hello all,

Before getting into the issue, I want to state for the record that I'm not suggesting any sort of bug or game shenanigans with this, I'm just curious to know if there are any in-game mechanics - chemistry comes to mind - that could cause something like this, or if it's just random/really bad luck.

Some quick background: I run the Tigers and am in the middle of the 2044 season. I handle all apsects of the organization, other than letting minor league managers set the lineups.

Typically, my AAA team is good (usually in the playoffs), my AA team is around .500 and my A teams (A+, A, A-) range from average to really bad, depending on recent draft classes, international FA signings, etc.

Last year, my A+ team (Lakeland) went 16-122. They allowed 1,126 runs and only scored 338. The team wasn't stacked, but it had a decent amount of talent on it, especially on offense - I had four of my team's Top 10 hitting prospects on it, including big bonus international guys and former #1 picks.

On offense, there were four players that were worth -4.0 WAR or worse, and these were supposedly the best players on the team. One guy hit .119/.160/.215 in 600 PA.

Fast forward to this year. I didn't make any coaching staff changes, and Lakeland is 29-35. All of the players that were -4.0 WAR the year before are doing wonderful (two in A+, the other two that I promoted to AA) with WAR's of 2 or better in only around 60 games.

The manager has a Fair reputation, the hitting coach is Inexperienced and both have good relationships with the players.

I don't think I've ever had a batter finish below -2 WAR before, so seeing 4 be at -4 or worse and all decent prospects was something else.

Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to check the Team Chemistry page before the season ended, so I have no idea how bad it was or if that could've been the issue.

Yes

It's a snowball effect

Start off the season slowly
Morale goes down
Performances get worse
Team loses more
Morale goes down
...
