Caribbean Baseball League
Who are we?
We are a brand new, 12 team fictional league, based on the Caribbean. What is so special about the league? This is the only league of our kind (if I'm assuming right). I have created a 2,500 player name database, consisting of Spanish first names. All the teams come from the Caribbean, and have real life Weather (wind averages, temperatures). Also, being new to the forums, I am not aware of any league that will sim daily, with a real life schedule (1 day at a time). If there are, sorry, I didn't notice Just seems like every league I see simulates 7,10, or 15 days at a time.We will play an 80 game season, 1 day at a time. Seasons will last about 3-4 months. Why Should I Join? I don't know about any of you, but my goal with this league is to have fun, and meet new people. Online life is my hobby, and this league is a passion of mine that I want to do. I have spent a good month planning it all out, creating the league file, creating the website, and just simply thinking out ideas. I promise nothing but the best to those who join. I don't know how often words float around on here, but I am willing to devote all of my free time possible, to make this thing enjoyable for you. What I want is 11 other owners who share the same, gut-wrenching passion for baseball and the statistics that go with it. Nothing enjoys me more then staying up late nights, and breaking down the MLB scores. I would love for this league to be like a community, that can just talk about baseball and have fun. Enough jibber jabber, what do I do to join? Simply go to the website at http://caribbeanbaseball.com and check everything out, and read the rules, which can be found here: http://caribbeanbaseball.com/constitution.htm (thanks to BOS for a basic outline) If you like what you see, feel free to send me an email at pedro@bosoxfan.net with the your name, your age, your email, 3 teams of choice (check out the owners page to see), and just a little backround info about yourself as a person. Also, if you are interested in helping out as an Assistant Commish, feel free to include that in your email. A special thanks goes out to Mr. Cooley for creating fantastic team logos, to Mr. Graves for creating a spectacular league logo, and to Teflon Skies for his work with the stadium pictures. Thanks everyone for your time. Mitchell P.S.- The league website was specifically designed to fit the 1024x768 screen size... so if the website looks funny, it's because you aren't using that size screen And if you see that there's just a map, and no website, look under the map where it says "enter website", which will lead you to here http://caribbeanbaseball.com/home.htm

Thank you very much sir. To tell you the truth, your league was one of the first I saw when I joined these boards, and I am envious of what you have

Can you please point out these leagues that failed? Is the website still up for any? Is there any going on that use this formula? If you'd care to give me any helpful tips maybe? Sorry for all the questions

Hmm...
I think one was called No Strike Baseball League. I just checked my link and the site is now dead. Another one was more recent and I am having trouble remembering the league name. It was run by a dubious character with the nic SimSportsWorld. Now that I think about it, something called 4Ever Baseball just started and they are were advertising one game sim per day. I did not pay much attention to it but you may want to do a search on it.

4Ever Baseball sims daily (Mon thru Sat), but not 1 game per day. We sim 2 or 3 games per day totaling 14 games per week and loving it!

Sorry... I forgot to add we are doing the initial draft live on the message board. Hopefully we can get 11 owners on the ball, so it only takes a week or two tops.

I believe the league you're referring to that was started by Simsportsworld was "The Flight for October" or TFO.
And, that league folded after 7 games, yes 7 games. The message boards were very active, so it wasn't due to owner inactivity.

TFFO crashed because the commissioner had some RL issues concerning friends and Iraq etc....couldn't devote time to the league (which happens).
Nevertheless, I just don't know about 1-day sims. It is a big commitment for time and - for teams out of the hunt - interest could be a problem. With TFFO things just got started and people were starting to question that policy....

Maybe I should revamp the league to 162 game schedule, with let's say 3 sims a week, 7 days long? I didn't know 1 game schedules were big issues in the past.
However, I think I can do this, and that is the first step (I hope? ). I really do want to try it, and if it becomes a hassle for owners, we could always change the way we sim. But like I said, this league is basically something I've wanted to do, and it has been thought out carefully, so I know this CAN work. And I understand the efforts I will have to step forthward and give.

simming
Everything about your league looks great, and keeping it small at first is a very good idea. Good luck with it all.
![]() It wouldn’t be tough to adjust your RL simming schedule after the league starts. You could try your method for a while, then change it if you need to. |

Thanks for all of the constructive feedback that you have all given.
HOWEVER! We still only have 3 owners in the league Not much interest has been shown yet. How long does it normally take to fill a league? I'm hoping I can get 11 owners sometime soon

This is going to be a great league. It's obvious the Commish has put a lot of time and effort into this, planning everything carefully. That impression alone speaks volumes, never mind the type of commitment he is talking about making.
Get in on the ground and be part of something unique. Last edited by Bluenoser; 04-15-2003 at 02:55 PM. |

I'd like to announce Bruce Muench as CBL's co-commissioner. We talked when I made my original post about having a co-commissioner, and I really liked what I heard about him. Unfortunately he was not 100% sold on fictional players. However, he has changed his mind, and I'm thankful he did
! So we now have two people in charge who will have a lot of passion for this league. This league is folding into what I expected, and hopefully you can jump on board from the get go!

Picasso, I have just one little question, comment, suggestion take it as you wish. You see in the real Caribbean Baseball league there are 4 teams 1)Puerto Rico 2)D. Republic 3)Mexico and 4)Venezuela and I was just wondering if you were thinking about including the last two in your league.
