Robinson Cano, Shortstop?
Any idea what Special Edition Robinson Cano (97) can train up to at SS?
When I got Cano, I already had Hardware Heroes Joe Morgan (97) at 2B, so I put Cano at 3B, where he is currently trained up to a 72 defense. But now I just pulled a Matt Chapman (96; 100 defense at 3B). I figure I can shift my current SS, Javier Baez, to a utility role, put Cano at SS, then slot Chapman at 3B. But that only works if Cano can play a decent SS. I could put one of them at DH instead, but then I have to bench one of my all bat, no glove guys like Billy Williams, who has been pretty damn good for me there.

3B is actually the best long term position for Cano, if you care about defense. His range isn't really good enough to play shortstop IMO.

That's slightly better than Baez, who has 81 defense at SS, and with a much better bat than Baez. I think that's the way to go.

Chapman will surely disappoint with the bat. You could probably sell Chapman and get Tulowitzki to replace Baez, either by collecting Colorado, or buying outright. Collecting would be cheaper.

I have Tulowitzki on all of my teams, and he has been a big disappointment with the bat. The defense definitely added value, though.

My Cano trained up to an 87 at 3B.

Yeah, that is his limit in terms of position rating.
It's not just about having the max fielding rating at every position though. 2B defense is much, much more important than 3B defense, and so moving Cano to 3B allows for a better (more range) second baseman. |

I trained him at 3B to make room for Whitaker

Once my team started to crap it's pants, I moved Cano to 3B. Not soon enough as he is only at 25 when the season ended but I will stick with him there and put someone with 100+ range at 2b no matter what his bat is...my 68 Ozzie come to mind or maybe Bob Fisher
