Tournament questions

I would like to set up some tournaments but I am having a few issues, I am hoping that there are some solutions.

The first issue is DH vs, non-DH. I would like to have the DH used if at least one of the teams in the series used it. I don’t want one set of rules to govern the entire tournament. I don’t want the 1975 Reds vs. 1927 Yankees to have to use the DH just so the 2009 Yankees vs. 1955 Dodgers are able to have it.

I could just set up a bunch of series individually and keep the brackets by hand. I already know that is what I will have to do for a worst team ever tournament. For that tournament, the losers “advance” to the next round until the worst team ever is the last ones standing. I could set up a few tournaments using that method but would prefer not to have to do it that way.

The other issue is the eras. I will be using teams spanning all of the past century. (1920-present) I want each team to be able to have the pitching usage strategies of their day. For example, if Bob Gibson faces the 2015 Royals, let the Cardinals treat Gibson the way he was treated and let Johnny Cueto be handled from his era. I don’t want to force the Cardinals to modernize Gibson or the Royals to play in a world that was long gone. Is there any good solution to this issue?
