Random Debut Amateur Draft Question

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to change a year a player gets imported into the save by deleting a player from the amateur draft. My question is, if I delete a player from the amateur draft, will that player ever show up later in the save or will that player be lost forever?

Thanks for your help!

I believe you only get one shot with each player. You could delete the player, and simultaneously import him at the age you want him to be though. The problem with this is that if you do it too often, you'll create an imbalance in your league. There are great players in every RD league. If you make them all young, you'll probably throw the balance off, so use it sparingly if you choose to use it.

There was a forum member a ways back that used to swear that if you deleted an inaugural draft player prior to running the draft, the player would reimport at a later date. I've never had the energy to try and find out if he was right or wrong.

Thanks for your help, guys!

I am only asking because I am restarting my fictional league with random debut players (as David helped me do about a month back). In my first amateur draft (the first historical players to be imported into the game) was a young Bryce Harper. I would like to not waste the first 10 years of his career on seasons that will later be deleted.

Anyways, thanks for the help, looks like I will only get the last half of Bryce's career in the seasons that will stay.

I wouldn't delete seasons with RD because of the issue you're describing. How many are you deleting? If you delete seasons like that, you'll find many more players past their prime than you would in an ordinary Inaugural Draft, and I don't think that's what you want.

The reason you want a mix of players at various stages of their careers in that Inaugural Draft is to maintain a balance in the average age of your league. If you switch out to many guys that are older with their younger counterparts, you'll throw that age average off. RD is really good at being ready to go in the Inaugural Season. 44 players per team. Bump the number of rounds in the Inaugural Draft from 27 to 44, and off you go. Every Amateur Draft will be populated by players in their rookie seasons (sometimes one season before, depending on your recalc settings, if you use them). I may not be understanding what you're trying to do though, so please clarify.

I am just simming 10 years into the future and deleting league history, so that the there are not 25 18 year olds on every team. To make my league fully fictional, I must create a fictional league with fictional players for the inaugural draft, then the amateur drafts will consist of RD players.
