What would you do with a Barry Bonds Peak card?

I just started playing OOTP 21 last week. My team was placed in a Rookie league, and yesterday I decided to splurge on a handful of gold packs. The first pack contained a Peak Barry Bonds card. I will never open a more valuable card. Would you flip it to build out the rest of your roster? I am keeping it because eventually I'd be kicking myself for selling it when I'd need a card like it to upgrade my roster.

I still have it a BONDS 99 in PT 20 but he stays on reserve list. Just didn't perform well enough. I play the Stan Musial 99 card in his place

Since you are a new player, I would keep him. You would probably squander the points if you sold him (being new and inexperienced). In Rookie league a card like that will rake PP like you wouldn't believe. Place him in the leadoff position to rake in those "opening the game with style" achievement points. The leadoff position also gives more PA and more chances for double and triple dinger points.

I actually got lucky and snagged a bonds last week. He's amazing but I am tempted to put him out there at an exorbitant price to get a better overall team. I just know that if I do I'll never get a player this good again.

Congrats on that awesome pull. I haven't pulled anything even close to that valuable in PT 19, 20 or 21 over thousands upon thousands of packs. For me if hell froze over and I finally would pull something game changing for the first time in 3 versions of PT I would probably keep the Bonds on 1 team but sell him on the other two. Bailey makes a good point, if you did decide to sell him have a plan in place. A lot of players would squander the points without really getting anything close to the value they should have.

It is honestly just how you would like to play. This is the first time my friend and I have played OOTP, he convinced me to get it a week after he did.

We both completed the live missions and got Yogi last week. The main reason is I sold the players I wasn't planning on using for a mission or going on my main roster. He on the other hand has kept pretty much everyone.

It isn't a massive boost, but it did allow me to make up about a week on him. Here is the caveat, now I am in the end game and it is more about incremental upgrades, and having a peak Bonds would be pretty nice right about now.

Not a bad idea to keep him...is value in the Ah will be stable...I got Barry Bonds too but in pt20..i never sell it and is value were around 160-200k pp for a period of time. I dont know is value in pt21...but you have the opportunity to play it sometimes, and maybe sell it later...he win many awards and pp for me in pt20 (around 44k pp in 50 seasons).

grind it up, inject it, and pull down nothing but diamonds and perfects for my next 50 packs?

Does it work like that?

I would dissolve it in methylene chloride and inject into a gcms.

I actually was in your same boat. New to the game and pulled a Bonds Peak. I sold it for 450K and basically completed all the live missions within a few weeks and still had a little pocket change left. I don't regret it at all because it provided me weeks of fun finishing the missions, but I will say i wish I had a card like that now in Diamond as the rest of the missions/cards in AH that can upgrade my team are way out of my price range. As people already mentioned, have a plan in place, but also make sure you'll be ok with yourself even after that plan is executed. It's definitely a double-edged sword with a pull like that.

Always nice to have one position locked down
.

Bonds *can* be improved upon, but you won't have to even think about the spot for a long, long, long time.

Congrats!! Now hopefully you WILL pull a card better than Bonds as some point, sure he is good but there are far better cards in the game. I would suggest you sell the card and use the Perfect Points to help you complete all of the MLB Live Missions. Those reward cards will build you a nice little roster and you should be able to have some good success without spending any money.

Good luck and enjoy the game!

So I might have just done that today. Bought 2 regular packs with Barry's hard-earned PP points and the first card I pulled was none other than fishy Jesus, The Millville Meteor, Mike Trout. Holy ****.
