Historical Accuracy

I am new to the game, and I have started a 1943 re creation of this season. I noticed right away that the rosters of the teams do not reflect historical accuracy. I am now in 1947 and manage the Yankees. In this simulation, Joe D is HORRIBLE. The Yankees as a team are barely a .500 team. Also, the AI GM makes more moves than a WR running a route. He also has 3 catchers on the team. I am concerned that this is the way the game is, and that a true re-creation is not possible. Please help this newbie understand the game's limitations. Thank you

When you created the league, did you enable historical lineups and transactions? If not, you're in big trouble with Joe D. In real life, he didn't play from 1943-45. Nor did many other players. I don't know how they're rated for those seasons, if you included them in the league. Replacement-level, maybe? What other settings did you enable? Injuries, trades, minor leagues? To closely approximate the real life season, IMO, it's best to choose 1-yr recalc and enable historical lineups and transactions when you create the league. Keep everything else at default.

I did enable historical lineups and transactions. The same thing has occurred with a replay I'm doing in 1962. I'm in 1965 and the Yankees have not played .500 ball. Also, strange members are on the teams. i.e. Lou Brock on the Red Sox, Denny McLain on the Yankees.

Did you leave the other options at default? Didn't touch anything else? Nothing but historical lineups and transactions?

I'd recommend testing out a new league. Use the historical league wizard. STEP 1: Choose 1-yr recalc (single-season replay mode). STEP 2: Enable historical lineups and transactions. Proceed through each step but don't change anything. Now see what happens when you play through a season.
