Really Struggling
Hey everyone.
First year on OOTP Perfect Team and am really enjoying. I was doing pretty good until the last two seasons. I am getting walloped. Even in the bronze league i am really struggling. I have a lot of solid golds, a few diamonds, and silvers, few bronze. Bullpen is not amazing. I think I am struggling with my lineups overall. Not getting a lot of hits at all. Wondering if I could get any pointers if I were to share my setup?

Under the MAIN menu find missions. Complete the LIVE missions and use the reward cards. Start with Houston first. Plug Bagwell in at 1B and start earning PP. He alone can earn 2000 pp each week. It's challenging to complete these missions, but I thought it was a lot of fun. Don't buy packs! Second thing to do, is use the iron cards you get to enter iron tournaments and earn packs that way.

That is really good advice. I was trying to pick good players on auctions but feel like I just kind of screwed up my team. I didn't really understand the missions deal. That is helpful.

Really Struggling at low levels is often a result of shoddy D, which only makes weak pitching even worse.
Live collections is fair and reasonable advice, it will help. But not many of those SE players survive through Gold. I can recommend the Roster Advice topic on Discord, but we can't really offer specific suggestions and reasoning with seeing the roster. Last edited by Lemandria; 05-08-2020 at 07:05 AM. |

Completing the live collections is definitely a way to get some good cards. I echo the recommendation to do that.
In addition, I'll just say that the competition seems a lot stiffer this year, and my one team that's been in bronze three seasons running, is seeing a LOT of stacked teams (there are four teams in the league this year with winning percentages of .700+) - so if you're in a league with a whale or two, you may be getting beaten up a lot. Unfortunately you just gotta grin and bear those kind of thrashings. |

My second team the Buckeyes is playing .300 ball in Iron with the following roster breakdown:
1 Perfect and 4 Gold SPs 2 Gold and 4 Silver RPs/Cl 1 Diamond and 1 Gold at C 2 Gold 1B 1 Silver and 1 Bronze 2B (Defense priority with Evers and Lowe) 1 Gold and 1 Silver SS (Using Leo Cardenas for Def) 1 gold and 1 Bronze 3B 2 gold and 3 Silver OFers Using Harold Baines as my DH I'm currently 46-95 in Iron 154. There's a Whale in my division, but he'll be gone next season. I'm stunned at how poorly this team is doing.

How do you get Bagwell to earn 2000 points a week?

Live missions are good though. You can get the baltimore, seattle, and san Francisco done pretty cheap. Aim to pay less than the 7 day average. I was able to finish all the live missions and only paid above the average price a couple times, and only by a little bit. Search in the action house for live cards, end time ascending, and look for auctions ending soon for 5 pp or 25 pp with no bids. Easy scores to get cards at minimum prices.
Best cards to get for live teams imo are the bagwell and lyons (white sox). Ichiro for the entire AL west is wonderful too.

Hang in there and you will do fine. It is often just a matter of making small roster tweaks if you already have what looks like a solid core. I am currently in bronze and 20 games over .500 with a team that has only 1 diamond on the entire roster and it's a low end diamond and I have not completed a single mission. My highest rated gold hitter is an 87. I don't have a single player with contact over 76. But I have built a smart budget team around defense and decent pitchers that pitch to contact to utilize that D which has produced multiple seasons of #1 zone rating. I also am a huge fan of the Eye rating which is constantly overlooked in this game so despite my average hitting I am first in OBP. There are tons of teams out there that have what look like loaded rosters but are so horribly constructed and they just don't get why their teams struggle. Other times you just have a down season or two, it happens even with well built teams. As stated by others the missions can be very beneficial but just have a plan in place before you start dropping PP like crazy. Know if you are going to actually use those guys or not. And focus on those low end tourneys of iron/bronze. You can pile up some packs and get large chunks of missions done just that way so you can save your valuable PP on other areas. |

You'll have to trust me that this is Bagwell. My average is even higher than 2000. It could be the players around him help out, by getting on base, driving him in, etc. Edit: If he is your first diamond, put leadoff, for the leading off in style points. |

I'm going to look.
I ended up getting a lot if the al se at once. Bagwell doesnt seem to be standing out as an earner as much as ichiro and blyleven.

One tip that no one has mentioned... Set your home park factors to maximum for everything, you will get more pp via offence than pitching or d
