Minor League Depth Chart und Pitching Staff

I always use "potential" ratings over "current" rating in the advanced rule setting tab for my minor leagues.

(I play with a rating scale 1-10)

As far as I understand:
Player current 1/potential 9 is playing over another player who has current 4/potential 8.

As of now, the player in the lineup is worse than the one on the bench (1<4), yet he is playing!

Does this have an impact on the development of the bench guy? Maybe he doesn't develop into that "8" guy in the end, bc he is not playing.

Depends on your force start assignments and can be reworked if, for instance, you want to play the 4 OVR/8 POT player at a different position. That said, I would imagine your 8 POT player will still have some sort of role, maybe just not their preferred one. May result in a morale hit, but can be worked around if you're like me and micromanage to some degree.

Apologies if that tangent didn't directly answer your question.

The 4/8 guy starts for 2 other guys, in case they are tired.
So he still has games under his belt.

Thought about force positions as well.

Playing w/o morale :-)
Everyone happy by default.

I micro all of my prospects they might even be potential prospects. basically if thwy have >=2.5 stars then they are on my prospect shortlist and I am micromanaging them.

At the absolute minimum they are getting locked to the level I want. Then depending on purely offensive stats (batters) I am forcing their position as well. And i keep checking on them to get them multiple defense ratings. You never when a different level needs one or its time for the show when a star goes down. Plus the good ones can become super utility guys and they make great trade bait.

A 24-25 year old who is 60 above at 8 defense positions. They usually go well when trading. If you already have 1 on your big league team. Letting the AI do it they might get 2 position if they are lucky or they have your best at DH and then they have no fielding.

OF can rotate to all 3 spots plus play 1B and many have strong IF arms so can play 3B if they have higher then 35 dp I believe. And many do. And there are a ton of SS/2B guys that are 50/60 at all 8 spots. So I'm like might as well train them up.
