Spring Training rust
As I sit here with a pretty decent team (default MLB start) now in 2021, and the team--particularly the pitching--has bordered on horrendous, I got to thinking. I generally simulate Spring Training (I play every game in one-pitch mode otherwise), but would playing in one-pitch mode in Spring Training do anything to help knocking off rust? I mean, it would certainly give me more control over lineups (yes, I'm familiar with 7-day lineups; I used to use them about 8 years ago, before I started playing out every game).
I want to see what people think. I disclaim that I am an OOTP vet, but am very open to ideas from others. |

Well they still play in simulation mode but you could control the game and make sure everyone gets a few at bats and pitches.
Otherwise it's a wash. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I'm more looking for input from people about whether the AI does a good job on its own of getting rid of rust. |

Got it, I play the last week of Spring Training to ensure my guys all get 50 pitches in for their last start and at least 3 at bats against both right and left handers.
No idea if it helps but it's my way. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

You lose rust just being on the active roster. You don't even have to have the player in the actual game

People complaining about how the AI manages ST rosters is pretty rare. Your fine either way. To me this is one area that had a ton of potential for improvement. For instance you literally have to hunt just to see ST stats for your players. Why??
Like others have said you can micro manage in ST but its a very manual process. Definitely not setup to be easy for the casual GM. It needs to be. Last edited by andyhdz; 04-25-2020 at 05:30 PM. |

"I'm more looking for input from people about whether the AI does a good job on its own of getting rid of rust."
I was refrring to the quote above and I answered that not many people complain about how the AI handles ST rosters. |
