Expansion Question

I turned down the option of adding two expansion teams in (I think) 2024 and now wish I hadn't. I want them to show up again as an option without going in and tinkering with a lot of things (I'm computer stupid).

My question is, will it come back as an option if I turned it down once?

My second question (and more important) - how does the expansion draft work? Is it like real life where you get to protect 15 players, then each team someone picks one, you get to protect 5 more? Or is your entire 40 man protected?

That's the reason I turned it down the first time - I didn't want my team raided by an expansion team! But now I want to try it again soon.

Thanks for your help y'all!

I can answer your second question: You have some options, but it's not as detailed as you're asking. You can select a couple paramaters:

1. You can select how many players teams can protect.
2. You can select how many years of professional service gets a player auto-protected. I think the default is three? Maybe four? You can change it. But this means your just recently drafted players are protected which is great.
3. You can set a limit on how many player MAX can be selected from a specific team. I usually change this based on how many teams I have. For example, I just expanded a 12-team league in its infancy to 14, and I allowed five players from each team to be selected. Once the 5th player is taken, that team couldn't lose any more players.

I would love to have the feature you mentioned, though!

Also on that note: You can go into settings to initiate an expansion draft.

Someone will have to help me out with where because I'm on a different device at the moment - but when you go through that, it will allow you to pick the Cities and Teams you want to add, and then will add a minor league team for each level, which you can also edit.

I believe right after that, it will ask you all of the things I mentioned in the prior post about draft rounds, protection lists, minimum service, etc.

From the manual:

http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...t_page.protect

League Expansion Wizard

The League Expansion Wizard asks you all of the questions you need to answer to expand your league.

Expanding using the wizard is simple:
  • Choose the number of teams to expand. You can choose from 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 teams.
  • Enter the new team names, nicknames, and abbreviations, and select a target division for each team. The resulting alignment must have an even number of teams in each subleague. The "Randomize Teams" button will assign new random names to the teams if you wish.
  • Add any minor league affiliates to the expansion team. The "Create Entire Minor League System" will save you the trouble of manually adding them all by creating a complete system of affiliates for each of your expansion teams (which you can then edit if desired.)
  • If you wish to hold an expansion draft, check the "Schedule Expansion Draft" checkbox and select the number of players each existing team can protect. (This can be from 0 to 60 players.)
  • Click the Expand League button. If you elected to hold an expansion draft, the draft will be scheduled for two days from the current date. In the intervening day, teams will have to submit protection lists to the league.

Like ryanivr said, you can control the service time limits for available players from each team and you can set the size of the protected list for each team.

Just make sure you have schedules from the mod forum to use because the game just can't do it right.
