I can’t play this game

We had this discussion last year on the beta team about underlining links. It was pretty widely accepted that people didn’t like all the underlines of everything so they removed them. Somehow they made their way back into the game and it’s AWFUL. I seriously can’t look at this game for more than 15-20 minutes and I have to tune it off bc it’s so nauseating with links. Everything blends together and I get a headache trying to separate it all. I’m blown away that they put this back in considering how poor of a design decision it is. I literally cannot only this game because of it.

I literally do not even know what you are talking about. Which is really interesting. Not putting down your annoyance, I get things can be painful, but just super interesting that I have never noticed that which causes you to not be able to play.

Do you have all the underlining? I thought for sure there would be a way to turn if off but haven’t found it. Also, how do you play? The team homepage doesn’t have it but the box scores are damn near impossible for me to read because of all the underlining of links

Have you tried changing the skin? You have gone through all of the "Settings" and nothing there?

Yeah I’ve looked at all the settings and tried different skins. I’ve even compared to 20 to 21 and it’s 100% different. I don’t know why they made that change. It’s one thing to underline a link in a paragraph like this. It’s something completely different to underline ever player in a box score and especially so when theyre all bunched together when showing extra base hits, etc.

The only skin that has underlined hyperlinks is the Dark Skin. Classic and Light don't have underlining.

I've looked at 20 and 21, the only change I see in skins is the background changes done to classic, which look gr8 imo.

I do agree with you about the underlining in the dark skin being a poor design decision, but I've only seen a handful of people complain about it. They certainly never changed it. Maybe you just switched to a different skin and assumed it was changed?

Here is part of a boxscore in v21 classic skin, no underlines at all. Darkskin has them (and they are annoying) . But neither Classic or Light skin have them.

The underlining has never bothered me though I think an option to turn it off would be nice. With the dark skin, there really isn't a different color you could use for the text like you can with the light skin. For ootp veterans, that's no problem. They already know what they can and can't click on to be linked to a different screen. I'm sure the underlining was helpful to me when I started playing ootp 3+ months ago. If all of a sudden it starts bothering me...I am gonna be so, so mad. LOL

Because that’s a web design feature to signify hyperlinks. I didn’t put them there. Much different than every player in a box score being hyperlinked

That makes sense. I tried the other skins but only briefly and decided I liked the dark skin better. Never looked at a box score. That makes sense that a light blue or whatever would work like on light skins. For some reason I don’t like classic on 21 like I did on 20. Maybe I just like the other aspects of the dark better. Looks like I’ll have to go back to classic. Thank you to those with the insight to help me discover what I was missing

I have used the dark skin for at least the last 4 versions. I found myself sitting here thinking "there's underlining going on, where?" . I literally sat here trying to visualize it and couldn't. I guess you'd have to say it's never bothered me

One thing I really like is, for the first time ever the light and the classic are using a dark play by play background with white letters. In the past, it was always a white background with black lettering and in my opinion caused a strobe light effect. I've always used dark for that reason.
