Newbie Question
Apparently I'm an idiot.
I'm creating a large league and in an effort to discourage duplicate names I decided to edit the names.txt file and make the frequencies all between 1-5 in the 0 set. I copied the original names.txt file into my documents and renamed it namesORIG.txt. I created the new file and named it names.txt (saved in my documents). But when I try to copy/paste the new names.txt file into the default data folder, I get an FILE NOT FOUND OR NO READ PERMISSION error. Anybody got a solution? |

second thought -- is this when you try to copy over the old file? it may be marked as "read only" or whatever... as administrator you shoudl be able to override this, if not, ensure the file name and file type are the same and delete it, then ove it.
you can add security rights to a file by right clicking it and using the GUI. if unsure, google it for well-thought out steps with screenshots. or, it's possibly the file type / encoding, if saved as somethign other than the original file type. instead of copying and pasting, open, then save as some new file name to save the backup or a file to work with -- either way you now have 2 copies before any changes are made and it will be the same file type as what the game reads from the orginal file. If you copy and paste into an open document, it might save it as something unreadable. not guaranteed, but possible if not paying attention to it. |
